One of Robinson's major goals for "Earth 2" is to present a cast that's as diverse as humanly possible. To that end, the writer promised that Scott isn't the only homosexual character in the comic.

"There is another character down the line, but that character won't be appearing for some time, so it's probably a bit too early to talk about that," he told the Advocate. "But this book will definitely have a diverse cast. Alan Scott won't be the only gay character in 'Earth 2' — I promise you that."

Comic book character lives are in jeopardy!
Slap fights!
How does their sexuality affect their actions as heroes? What difference does it make if Superman is fucking Jimmy or Lois? He's still Superman!
He is now Supergay.
...for cocks.
Penis.
Oh. My. God. What if the next gay character is Wildcat? Beardguy would lose his shit.

Alan Scott...GAY?????????

Well...I never...!

Next you'll be telling me Supes and Bats got all giddy upon chancing across a pond full of neekid boys back in the fourties!
Actualy I hope the next big "reveal" will be a homosexual Spectre. That way Alan Scott can nudge Jay Garrick at the JSA meeting table and tell him that he really had ONE DEAD FUCK LAST NIGHT...and really mean it!!!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

Transation-when we need more people buying our book.
So does that mean Jade was never born? Or are they doing one of those "had a family with a woman but now I have to be true to the throb of my penis and go bang dudes while I wear spandex and a cape" things? Because I don't think they should remove any titties from the DC universe.

Or, as it's known on "earth prime," the "Jim Jackson."
Isn't this shit tokenism.

It doesn't seem like they are doing it for the strength of the stories.

It seems more like DC is saying "Here's one for you faggots!"

It's like the 90s style of being edgy. (douche chill)

There are other long time comic book homosexuals. Northstar, Midnighter, Apollo, Renee Montoya. And it goes on.

Don't change a character, especially a decades old one like Alan Scott.

Create a new character, or add a layer to one who never had that.

I'm sure there are tons of charterers who've never addressed their sexuality in any way to choose to be a gay character if you have a story you want to tell.

Don't do it just to do it.

More and more of the "New" 52 comes off like old Image.

I'd wait until the comic actually comes out before judging if it was just a cheap move or not (with Robinson it could go either way: killing the little girl in Cry for Justice was pretty cheap). Also wasn't Montoya lesbianized too?

Earth 2 shows these guys as young guys getting started on the present, so Jade and Obsidian don't exist (Robinson said he wanted made Scott gay because DC was losing a gay character).
if alan scott is gay, then it could really go either way.
