So, it's finally begun. I figured I'd write this story at the same time as Hero Revolution #14, since the background of Helen McKenzie's project needs to be revealed a bit more, since it's part of the background in #14.

I'll be writing this completely by myself, BTW, as it's not a collaborative story. If there's a [Krononauts #1] I may open it up for such a collaborative venture, but I haven't decided it yet, and I'd need to know that there's enough interest for it in the first place.

The story will take place over the course of more than a year-and-a-half, beginning in February 2002 and extending to the present day Fall 2003, ending at about the same time as Hero Revolution #14 is beginning.

So grab hold of your seats and hang on tight, because this is going to be a great ride! [cool]

Also, in case I didn't make it clear, this story will delve VERY deeply into Mandelovian history, customs, culture, et cetera, besides detailing the actual time travel project itself. The information about Mandelovia is a project I've been working on for well over a year now based on the few pieces of information already out there about our little fictional country. However, there were a LOT of gaps still left unexplained which I will be addressing in an attempt to make this rather improbable fictional country more believable.

HOLY CRAP!

I haven't read it and I'm in love with it already. If you decide to make it a collaborative story, count me in.

Thanks, Mxy. I'm going to be writing the first story myself, but if you have any ideas about Mandelovian history and such, PM me and I'll see where I can fit it in. But do it quickly, as much of the Mandelovian history will be covered in the next post!!!

Also, the line-up of the actual Krononauts still needs to be filled. So far only two spots of the total five are taken (Helen McKenzie, the engineer, and Captain Nemo, the military man), so the remaining three spots will need individuals with one of the three following skills:

1) A history and language specialist
2) A theoretical physicist (as opposed to a "hands-on" type like McKenzie, who is an engineer)
3) A doctor

They'll also have to be very physically fit as astronauts are required to be in case of emergencies, though they don't need to be Olympic athletes or anything quite so extreme.

IMPORTANT: No metas allowed. And also, due to D'goon's prejudice, no U.S. citizens either (though citizens of other American countries like Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, etc would be allowed).

Basically, I'm going to be throwing open the Krononauts for others to write along with, and I want to find just three other posters who would be interested in creating a character based on one of the three spots still open. The number of the Krononauts will always be five, so no new members will be joining them (though they'll always be meeting new characters in their journeys). But as I said, I don't want metahumans since this isn't a superhero story in the least, and I want the characters involved to be created by someone other than myself, or it would just be a one-man show. As it is, only McKenzie out of the five would be my creation, Nemo's being Eurostar's, obviously.

Send me a PM with your character's name and description (physical description, some background, etc), and I'll introduce them briefly in this story and open it up for writing in the next one. These should be brand-new characters, too, rather than existing ones.

Oops. I knew I got something wrong there. Sorry. If it's any consolation, I'm going to be re-reading all posts dealing with Mandelovia, Nemo, and D'goon and taking notes to make sure I don't make those kinds of mistakes in the story.

Heh. I was hoping you'd be interested, Doc. If you can send me a PM with a name and a brief background and personality-profile for this character, it would help for when I briefly introduce the other Krononauts. Since this first story is all written from Helen McKenzie's perspective, any mischaracterization that I might do could be explained by her perception of things. I don't expect that the other Krononauts will be really fleshed out until issue #1 by their creators.

It will probably be more difficult to provide characterization to the Krononauts than, say, a member of the MBL or Vanguard, since due to the nature of the time traveling-type stories, there won't be any kind of recurring supporting cast, unless it's done in the style of SLIDERS and then would only be alternate timeline versions of people anyway.

Well done so far, TTT. I very much enjoy the journal-writing style of this story. Reminds me a lot of Dracula. Keep it up! I've been looking forward to this story since you first posed the idea to me a while back, so I'm anxious to see what you and the others'll be doing with it!

Thanks, Chewy! I'm glad you're checking it out, as you and the other former TOMB members will probably pick up on all the "in-jokes" that will be peppered throughout this first story.

And thanks for filling the Historicy/Language expert slot, Mxy. That leaves two slots left: a theoretical physicist (not an inventor -- just a theorist, thinker, and maybe even a philosophist, but without the technical know-how that engineer Helen McKenzie brings to the group), and a medical doctor.

Woo! Finally got another chapter written today. Sorry for the delay. I'd intended for this to be posted more regularly, and I hope to do so more often from now on.

I wrote quite a bit about recent Mandelovian history up to about the time just before D'goon took over the government. I took the time to do this because I felt it was necessary to explain how Mandelovia got into the position it is in currently. I think it's fairly believable the way I wrote it. Comments and criticisms are, as always, encouraged.

We gonna see more of this anytime soon, or will it go the way of "That Lucky Bastard" and "Twists of Fate"? I hope not, as I'd love to see this one get fleshed out some more... especially considering what you left us with in Issue 14...

Soon... I hope. I haven't had any time over the holidays to do much writing, and I've been sick as a dog for a week. Plus my notes were on my old computer (the one that crashed in mid-December ). It could take a while.
