Just read the last talk thread. Thanks for the kind words, guys. Issue 17 is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and I'm glad it worked. I could very easily have screwed it up. My story and origin and such was admittedly somewhat complex and so this is the most thought I've ever had to put into anything I've written.

Pro... I couldn't let those DNA codes go unused... although it wasn't my idea to just smash the thing on the floor.

Okay, if anyone wants to finish up with the current story and/or introduce a new character, do it now before it's locked up. There will be NO opportunity to do so once I start the next story.

BTW, I think we should stick with one talk thread per story from now on with the same numbering. Makes it easier to look up stuff.

CJ: I finally caught up with the rest of your solo story. Damn, it was good! You have a good flair for writing mysteries, and this one kept me wondering through the whole thing. In the "solo story" category for the Kampie Awards, I'm going to vote for your story.

Really? I was so worried about keeping the suspense, because everyone who knows me knows I usually can't guess the ending of a movie very well (aka 'Bruce Willis was a ghost?'). And this is coming from someone who actually watched all those Perriot mysteries on A&E. I can never figure those out either. Anyways, I actually wrote chapters six onwards backwards, so I could figure out the ending before tackling the middle. Nice to see it worked out.

Knowing that:
1)Mxy will write his heroes out of the current story only when he will have the time to read it.
2)Danny will not play next story
3)Gooz has time to post only for the next 8 day

Wouldn't be time to post issue 18, TTT?

OK, based on a recommendation by Euro in a PM he sent me, I think I'm going to have to postpone my issue until #19. My social life has been fairly busy the past few weeks, and I just haven't been able to write the setup post the way I want to (and I'm a perfectionist, dammit -- it has to be perfect).

It would be nice to have a "non-story" kind of story again, taking place entirely on La Perdita. I'll write something short to start things off, but this is essentially a "plotless" character-based story. If we want to introduce a plot later on, that would be okay, too. But for now let's just have fun exploring the island and the current dynamic of the team, shall we? Maybe this will have less pressure than a "real" story to write...

BTW, you'll notice that I've only used the five Vanguardians whose posters are most likely to actually participate in the story. I think we should simply leave it up to the others if they want to bring their character in or not. Just because they're not pictured in the first post doesn't mean they're not around on the island somewhere.

Sam's not rejoining... really. But I have an idea for Sam to know the team is in trouble (due to the HQ going down) and reach out to help them. What Sam "told" Phill in my post is that he is willing to put money up for the team to set up shop on one of the smaller unpopulated islands around the "mainland." They can set up a working HQ (living away from the building), that will not be harmful to the population and they can reinforce the place better.

Just an idea, the team doesn't have to accept it or anything (I wanted to clear up some of the Sam stuff - How did I do?).

Are you talking about a tiny isle for the team to meet, or to actually live? Because I don't really see how concentrating the team in an even more isolated place will do much to help them.

Part of the reason the Complex isn't being rebuilt as it was before is because we want to get away from the "bunker mentality" -- instead of all living together in one building, making us a big target for anyone wanting to take potshots at us, the individual Vanguardians will be living in various neighborhoods all around the island, mingling with the people like we always should have been.

Anyway, the tiny isle is an idea, but it's not all that different from the Complex, other than that it's even more isolated than the Complex was.

As I wrote in the first post, the team is us, it's not the headquarters, not the equipment or any of that overhead. So do we really need anything more than a simple meeting room? It could even change locations each time. If one of Vanguard's enemies tries to attack the group, it'll make it much more difficult to do so in one fell swoop without a visible target.

IMO, we should get to focusing on the characters for now rather than the "team paraphernalia" such as headquarters, equipment, transport, leadership, et cetera. We can deal with that stuff later on; it's not as important.

Just to meet, regroup and plan. I like the idea of the members actually having lives and working/living.

Isolated from those who would be most harmed by it. Even so, we could have th eMetting HQ under ground on the new island of "hidden" in a mountain or the like. I just think it would be goofy for th eteam to not have some sorta "office" or headquarters, for planning, weapons holding, etc.

Yeah, but isn't that different in all characters? I could see Phil and Priest thiniking that the HQ/equiptmeny is a big part of the team. As for just a meeting room, I don't think that would work too well. How do they get jobs... or monitor things? Logically I don't think it would work.

Thats why I thik the team needs some sorta hidden HQ. Not a huge flag saying kill us we are in here.

Gooz, TTT is trying to not spoil what should have been the true story he wanted to post, but I know he has in mind something "resembling" the hidden, underground headquarter into an inhabited island that you are proposing.

The point is that "NOW", without a company, or an official purpose, and obliged by the UN not to live the island, the Vanguardians have to adapt to La perdita as people, and not as members of a team.

So, while the need for a headquarter, especially for the heroes you mentioned (and also Edulcore, I guess I could add), is true, it would be beyond the necessity of this story. By the way, this new way to find accomodations for the characters, descends mainly from how the "monitor room" of the Complex was built: right in the sleeping room of Grissom Montag!

So, I picture that the armory of Vanguard will be in Phil's villa, and the training room at Priest's home. Altough we never had (or had shown) a trophy room, that could go right in Euro's home.

This sort of thing...

I think now the fun would be to see what the Vanguardians will choose as houses, and, the non-wealty of them, as jobs.

Just when the new purpose of the group will be estabilish, it will be the moment to give them a meeting room. For now, IMO, they could rotate into the living troom of their various home.

I love the splitting apart and getting home stuff. Any new HQ should take at least a few stories to get, I mean they don't just fall out of the sky do they

Good point. It's definitely something that could eventually lead to an actual story in our little "non-story" issue, depending on what they find there...

Heh. Well, I meant "Amazon" in the figurative sense, but no biggie...

So... don't everyone post all at once, now. There's time enough for everybody to get a scene in.

BTW, Ceej --
