1) I agree that Christina is too young to have been the mother. Not to mention she didn't recieve her speed until after Barry was dead.

2) While a great link with this Patty character that TTT researched, I would think it is waaaaaaay too convulated, and circumstantial, for Meltzer to pull her out of the Pre-Crisis cobwebs for such a monumental storyline. I mean, honestly (and no offense to TTTs superb researching skills), wouldn't it just be so easy to throw any minor Pre-Crisis character that might have posessed speed in as the mother? That's not Meltzer's (so far) style.

3) I think it's another form of red herring. While the mother may not be Golden Glider, it might just be a female that possesses speed as one of MANY powers. Wonder Woman comes to mind (not insinuating anything here, mind you). But, you get my point. We're all looking for speedsters. What if it's just someone who had a medium-grade of super speed, as well as other attributes?

Also, I agree that the dialogue did indeed insist that Digger was the father.

Thus, I would beging looking at the Suicide Squad, and who made up that enormous roster. Then, start whittling down the suspects. Besides the Rogues, the Squad was Digger's only affiliation. And, I realize that the compressed timeline of the DCU makes it a difficult task to judge whether enough time has elapsed for Digger's son to grow to the current age. Still, that is a safe bet.

NOTE: I am not going to rule out Barry Allen as the father. While it seems Meltzer is stating that Digger is the father, that doesn't mean the character's not lying, or, hasn't been brainwashed. In the end, it may be that this is Barry's illegitimate child. One, perhaps, he had with Fiona after the (believed) death of Iris?

Or....maybe it's his and Iris' child. Dun-dun-duuuunnnnnn!

Or, Jay's child!

Or, even.....the son of Professor Zoom!!

Still, why would Digger take the responsibility? And, as Wednesday has stated, that would not explain his natural prowess with a boomerang. It's not like throwing a baseball. You either know it, are born with it, or learn it. To me, the kid comes off as Digger's boy.

So, take from all of this what you will.....

Not true. I cannot throw a boomerang, but I can run at Mach 4.

Further complicating all of this is the fact that, to my knowledge, every single person with "Flash" powers in the DCU is or was a time traveler, to one extent or another.

This may have been covered before, but am I the only one who thinks the real point of this series is to bring back certain elements of the "classic" DC universe?

I'm thinking specifically of a greater emphasis on secret IDs in general and,in the case of Batman, the return of Robin as Bruce Wayne's orphaned "ward."

I also suspect that somehow this book ends with a mind-wiped Lois and a return to that status quo also.

Good point and yes Lois and Clark shoud NOT be married

Okay, everyone is speculating over how a speedster and normal person had sex. Shouldn't we at least address the obvious? Professor Zoom raping Iris.

Clearly, identities were messed with. Villains forgot who they were, and had their memories erased. Zoom (Thawne) was at one time, a fan of Barry Allen, before he found out he would die at his hands. Blah blah blah. He became his nemesis. Knew stuff about him. Clearly, he knew Iris (he killed her in the original series).

Maybe, as ID crisis continues, the writers will have some kind of forced rape scenario (ala Norman Osborne). Thus creating this fast kid. The team want to remove awareness of the incident, so they pull of that magic crap.

Eh, what do I care.

Words not violence, break the silence. Maybe.

That's interesting, and a possibility, but it doesn't account for Captain Boomerang thinking the young man is his son.

I just read this issue.

(Page numbers are ignoring the ads)

Pages 2-3: Excellent splash page with a vage Richard Corben feel to it. The Flash looks murderous.

Page 5: I find it funny how Kyle is STILL required to act like a rookie.

Pages 10-11: Fuck! And after James Robinson did all that work to keep him alive in that one issue of Starman. I always liked Firestorm.

Page 19: Who gave Jack Drake the gun? Someone wanted to get rid of Boomerang, it seems.

Page 20: I fail to see the point of this scene, other than to remind us of this subplot.

Page 24: I love Batman's reaction. "Not again..."

Page 25-28: My heart was thumping like loan sharks at a deadbeat's motel door. This is the most suspenseful scene I've ever read in a comic.

Conclusion: This is good comics. In my opinion, comics have it the hardest to convey things like emotion and move a reader, because we KNOW what's going on isn't real. It's all pen and ink, whereas a film contains real people acting. For a comic book to actually outdo a film (its more successful brother) in having an effect on me says quite a lot about the artform.

Since I don't think talent with a boomerang is an inherited trait, I don't really think Junior is Boomerang's son, even though Boomerang thinks he is. Junior's gotta be Barry Allen's son. It's the last bit of Barry angst they haven't hit Wally upside the head with-competing with the great one's son.

Midwiping Lois out of the marriage is a neat little solution, if only the rest of the world didn't know about Lois and Clark being married..................

I expect Batman will be dirting his little bat-boxers finding the killer now that Tim is a victim. I predict Batman will smugly announce he's found the killer, and he'll be found to be totally and completely wrong. Ralph will find the correct killer, dramatically go after him alone, and both Ralph and the killer will be destroyed around halfway through issue 7, with most of the late arriving JLA (isn't it amazing the number of blindingly fast guys they have, and every one of them will be too late?) witnessing the bloody finale.

This is the best comics story I've read in years, but I don't think it will have a nice ending. The entire optimistic view in the DCU is going to be a little damped down for a while, as a result of this miniseries.

All the better for it, I say. I'm a bit sick of people making Marvel out to be the grim universe while DC is the naive, idealistic one that is completely out of touch with reality.

So long as DC doesn't go overboard like Marvel and pull shit like the new Silver Surfer (which was a good book for the few issues I read it, but it's obvious they don't want cosmic stories anymore) with the New Gods or something, everything's cool.

I'd be dissapointed with a neat and tidy ending at this point. I'd rather something dramatic and with an impact.
