Still is. What's new? One has nothing to do with the other. You like the movie. Others do not. It's all relative to why anyone watches movies. They will never always be for the same reason. That's all...

Are you serious?

FF wasn't nearly as good as Spider-Man . . . but it was better than Spider-Man 2 and Elektra. Daredevil made a teensy bit more effort in some parts (but not by much) and I actually liked The Punisher but never saw The Hulk.

Wow, I liked spidey 2 way better than spidey 1..see we all have our own tastes..i thought Punisher was decent...I'm pretty forgiving of comic movies if they aren't completely dumb like superman 4 and batman 3 or 4...or that horrid elektra (who i don't like anyway)...even daredevil was OK..

See, I think this is teh deal..I'm beginning to go into any movie making myself hate it before i see it..If I see it and it's decent i'm flabergasted..hence, I thought FF was a great movie....But shit, I like Flash gordon what do I know???

I enjoyed it. I'd pay to see a sequel.

Doom aside, I thought the Four were adapted very faithfully to their comic counterparts. Alba sucks and I'm starting to despise her. Chiklis was really good on the big screen, he should do more films. Johnny Storm was PERFECT. I also thought that the Sci-Fi portions were sprinkled in solidly. To me, that was what made FF stand out from say the Avengers, the Sci-Fi aspect.

I recall Grant Morrison once asking, when taking on a new super-hero assignment, what is the very primary thing the book's about.

X-Men is about a school.

The FF is about a family. A pair of siblings. A husband and wife. The husband's oldest and dearest friend. That's the FF. I would like to have felt more of that in the movie (such as something at the end to indicate that Johnny really cared about Ben).

I thought all that was there, but to a lesser extent. I saw Johnny's comments to Ben when he arrived to fight Dr. Doom as that solidifying bonding moment. Plus, I think Johnny's one of those "I kid because I love... but don't think I'll admit it" kinda people. Still, I agree that this wasn't played up nearly as well as it could have/should have been.

It's an aspect of the FF that's as critical to it as teen angst-ridden Peter Parker is to SPIDER-MAN. And the SPIDER-MAN movies captured that very, very well.

If SPIDER-MAN can get to its core and X-MEN can address tolerance/acceptance issues, and still be good and wildly successful, any FF movie should be able to do get to its core, too.

I saw Fantastic Four, and it was...fantastic. I cannot find one flaw with this film worth griping over. Every actor fit. And, Doom is from Latvaria. That is all I'll say on that. As for Reed being invisible, he was perfect. He was the same science obsessed dumbass in this movie that he has been in the comics. Both of them. I was worried that Jessica Alba wasn't up for this, but she sold her part as Sue. Thing was thing, and Johnny was an ass. I rank this right alongside Spider-Man, which I like more than X-men. Take that for what it's worth.

You DC clowns are funny. Keep smoking the DC junk. It took them long enough to get Batman right. I love BB. Great movie and they got Batman right. On the other hand Marvel movies kill the DC garbage. Why would I kill myself when I have soooooooo much fun watching all the DC movies bomb, and folks like you defend them? hee hee You guys are great!

No offense, but that's absurd. DC and Marvel generally rank about even as far as crap movies go. Superman IV, Batman & Robin, Constantine, and Catwoman. Hulk, Daredevil, Elektra, Punisher, and FF. All in all, I think Marvel has some genuinely well-written, well-produced, and well-acted movies like Spider-Man 2, Blade2, and X2.

On the other hand, Batman Begins blows Marvel movies out of the park when it comes to adult storytelling. But, that's how it's always been, even in the comics. DC is older, and, thus, has more of an adult feel to things. Marvel is of the moment, and goes with the trend like kids do.

Calling one superior to the other is rather silly. It's all in your preference....

I'm not a "DC clown." I don't have a DC bias. In fact, I recently complained about the DC bias on these boards.

I don't really care which side of the fence these movies come from, as long as they're good comic book movies. That said, BB was simply better on almost all accounts. Better acting, better direction, better story. The only thing FF had was special effects, and even that's debateable.

Whoa. You complain about the DC fans having bias? I think it's pretty obvious you were gonna favor the Marvel movie over the DC movie no matter what.

Chas is not supposed to be a teenage sidekick, wannabe mage.
Constantine uses bluffing rather than holy powered guns.
Constantine has a dry english wit (which Keanu was able to partially pull off, but not completely).

I saw FF today. I enjoyed it. If you can believe there's a corporation called "Von Doom", you can buy all the rest. I liked it for the same reason I like early FF comics and Madman: it's pure superhero fun and it's fully aware of it.

Though it's not as sophisticated as Constantine, it's a much better movie in the sense that it got what the source material is about and translated it to the screen. I don't give a fuck how much stuff they changed or didn't change, the FF movie got the core idea right, while Constantine has nothing to do with Hellblazer and still pretended it did.

I saw it tonight and liked it, but for different reasons than I liked X2 or Spiderman. It was a fun comic book movie that got the core idea of the book right. Chris Evans was inspired casting; I cracked up when he put the shaving cream in The Things hand and tried to tickle his face when he was sleeping. I can't even remember how many times me and my friends did that to each other growing up. Jessica Alba is, as always, hot. I can't believe how much hotter a dye job and tinted contacts made her.

yeah, yeah. Still... I liked it in spite of the inconsistancies, which is saying a LOT, because I hate Keanu Reeves with a passion.

I did not feel they got the core idea of the FF right. The FF, at its core, is a family. I wish that more of that had been captured in the film. I would have to have seen Sue show that she cares for Johnny, beyond just nagging him. And for Ben and Johnny to show a little more that they can be friends. I know, it's a first movie. But still.

They had to go through the whole origin and everything this movie. You can't expect too much individual character development in the first flick when you have five main characters to focus on. You'd either focus on 2 or 3 and leave the others out --just like the X-Men movies-- or you'd rush it and make the story sloppy.

On the other hand, Batman Begins blows Marvel movies out of the park when it comes to adult storytelling. But, that's how it's always been, even in the comics. DC is older, and, thus, has more of an adult feel to things. Marvel is of the moment, and goes with the trend like kids do.

DC is older and thus has a more adult feel. In your mind maybe. DC sucked in the 70's. DC was sooooo bad Marvel is where it is today thanks to that simple fact! Big time! If Marvel is such a moment trend for kids then why the All Star line at DC? Maybe Marvel wants to save comic books for future generations to enjoy... This is a fantastic art form to tell stories. That is ALL it is.

This is why people whom LOVE comics do not get it! If we want to see comic books continue we need NEW fans. Younger fans. While I, as a comic fan, love the new Batman movie it does not create new fans. BB was the first Batman movie to get the comic book character. It was a GREAT movie.

The Marvel movies are doing the work the DC movies aren't. They are getting the comics on the big screen. There is a reason DC has started their All Star line. Marvel. Period. Dc got it with BB the movie. Batman has never looked better on the big screen. I hope it draws people to the comic books....... Time will tell.

I'm not a Marvel or a DC fan... I just like comic books that keep my attention long enough to read them each issue. I'm ALL about comic books. I'm a comic book fan. Period.
