 identity crisis has come and gone, carving massive pathways and ripples through out the entire DC universe. and all of the events that have happened and will happen stem mostly from the single decision made by a collection of leaguers, who took an unsteady vote to finalize and/or justify their decision. how would you vote? who would you side with?

Well the thing is if I was any of the Leaguers at the time I would have to vote against it. It just goes against everything they stand for. I personally however would do it in a heartbeat. You trying to tell me someone like the Joker shouldn't have been killed by now for all the attrocities he has committed.......like raping Barbara Gordon.....'cause he did.

If I remember right, Dr. Light was perfectly fine with that idea. "Great -- do it. That'll be a whole new audience for the story. My date with Sue Dibny."
Keep in mind that Dr. Light already had an edge on one superhero's secret identity. He could simply look up Sue's name in the phone book, walk over to Elongated Man's house and take over from there. Relying on traditional tactics like jail and food through straws simply won't work here unless you want to give up the secret identities altoghether.

The mind erasing magic trick wasn't that big of a deal IMHO. Considering the threat the various villains posed, the League dealt with it the best way possable. What would have been Batman's or the others solution? Batman is being a bit of a drama queen about the whole thing.

But yes, he might brag about the rape, and what of it? He's in prison, and he can't do it again. On the other hand, rapists are pretty badly treated in jail by general population. Treatment in local jails here for serial rapists executed by fellow inmates with wives and daughters on the outside is to insert pipe in arse, insert blunt barbed wire in pipe, remove pipe, remove wire. Or so I'm told.

Bats saw a serious offence taking place - inflicting brain damage on a captured prisoner. The portrayal of the recovered Light as furious and seeking vengeance is a pretty accurate characterisation.
I'm still bothered by the portrayal of a rape scene in a comic aimed primarily at kids, incidentally.

Having them mind wipe someone to forget secret IDs doesn't bother me, because it seems more like self-defense.
Mindwipes to try and change someone's personality, a little more difficult to justify.
I think Dave makes an interesting point about the fact that Dr. Light might have suffered more in prison. Especially, if the rest of the population was led to believe that his actions had led to, for example, a JLA crackdown on rogues.
I also think that Killconey is right to question, however, whether the PZ is an option in the retconned DCU.

I think that you missed Dr. Light's point in bragging about that. The point is not to hurt the JLA's feelings by letting them know that he's making fun of Sue. The point is that he can now logically conclude that Elongated Man is Ralph Dibny simply by the fact that they're married. That is the information he will be bragging to his fellow inmates.
Also, you're talking about comic book prison like it has anything to do with real life prison. Whenever prison is shown in the DCU it usually involves high powered criminals escaping easily and perhaps making some connections while they're there. I don't think anyone would have time to put a pipe in his ass before he buggered off.

E-man's identity (at least from a Pre-Crisis perspective, dunno if that holds true in Post-C continuity) was already publicly known at this time. I didn't see his bragging as a form or coersion regarding the secret identity aspect, but rather thumbing his nose at the heroes and their 'purity'. A 'gotcha', if you will, about (them and their loved ones) being untouchable despite their anonymity. The way he saw that Flash was wearing a wedding ring uhder his glove: not that he knew who Iris was, if she was dead, alive, whatever... but rather "give me some time and I'd bugger her, too."

i think the main scare here was that the bad doctor was now on his way to figuring out everyone's alt (through the transitive property, starting with sue and EM)
so, ok, he goes to jail a broken, bloody mess, for 10 years. but in 2015, he gets to the kent farm while clark is on another planet and takes a butcher knife to the family.
the mindwipe was a pro-active strike on a perceived, and likely, threat.
not good enough a jsutification for me, tho. or batman, of course (and i think it was pretty accurate, and cool, characterization on everyone's part)
to me, the team was flat out wrong. but, over time, excusable, as i could see them over-reacting in the heat of the emotional moment. however, turning on batman, their own pal... that was way over the line.
