My Name Is Earl NBCYou know that guy you see at the convenience store - sort of shifty lookin' fella who buys a pack of smokes, a couple of Lotto scratchers and a "tall boy" at ten in the morning - the kind of guy you wait to come out before you and your family go in...well, that guy is me...or the guy I used to be. Until I discovered Karma - Do good things and good things will happen to you, do bad things and they'll come back to haunt you. Now I know if I want a better life, I need to be a better person...that's why I've made a list of everything I've done wrong, a roadmap to better Karma, and I'm gonna make it right each and every one, I swear. Series Premiere: Tuesday September 20, 9 PM EST

This looks kinda stupid. And Jason Lee hasn't aged well... Meh.
Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi

The pilot was funny and Jason Lee is supposed to be a hobo, so of course he doesn't look good.

The pilot was first shown on NBC weeks ago, but for some reason they're reshowing it as the premiere tonight.

It has potential. I particularly liked the un-PC shit, like Earl and his brother running out of the gay guy's house, and Earl finding out his kid is black. It may end up being too moralistic, like at the end when the gay guy gives his monlogue to Earl ("You gave me my confidence back"). But I'd watch it again.

only good part of this piece of crap show was the part with the key fob
And, to be fair, one of my favorite friends there is blind and I take every opportunity available to make fun of that and we're still friends. That guy never fit there. He never got the spirit of the RKMBs. We're gonna keep an eye on the obits, see if he finally left or if he really did have a heart attack. 2,506,410.81 CAD Rack points

This show has become a big hit. So big, in fact, it is going to anchor NBC's Thursday Night "must see" lineup

Apparently, the are bringing it back. The announcment makes mention of restoring NBC's "great Thursdays tradition" or some such thing.
Personally, it seems to me that, as long as they are still trying to pawn that tired old "Will and Grace" off on as the night's lead in, and that tired old "ER" as its closer, they will have problems beating the "Survivor-CSI-Without a Trace" juggernaut.

Speaking of "must see"....JOEY has been yanked from the schedule totally, at least until March.
NBC said today the plan is to bring it back on Tuesdays with FEAR FACTOR.
JOEY has been a great disappointment to NBC, pulling in only 1/3 the viewership that FRIENDS had in its final season.
Personal comment: JOEY was mostly weak. And WILL AND GRACE has totally jumped the shark with the revelation this season that Stan has been alive all this time. I once loved this show, but it has descended into godawful.
We all wear a green carnation.

Apparently sitcoms as a whole are suffering. Without a Seinfeld/Cheers/Friends type anchor the night won't make it.

That's why a show like "Arrested Development" is so necessary. It's the next evolution of the sitcom, whether Pariah likes it or not.

Dude, Earl Rocks! My favorite moment was when his ex-wife Joy yelled, "Darnell!!!! Run down to the Vidya Hut and rent me a VCR!" Priceless.

Agreed. The laugh-track free sitcoms that work harder to be genuinely funny will be the future of sitcoms.

I like the new Thursday line up! Earl & the Office with ER works for me. Will & Grace is on it's last season & the Four Kings show I'm guessing isn't going to be around next year.
Fair play!

Chicken Pox Shuts Down 'My Name Is Earl' Jason Lee has an excuse for missing work better suited for a fifth grader. He has the chicken pox.
Production on NBC's "My Name Is Earl" is being shut down for a couple of weeks "until he's feeling better and presentable to be on TV again," said Greg Garcia, the show's creator and executive producer.
