Over on a Word Association thread (at another board I frequent), I followed the word "lingerie" with "waste" . . . which in turn resulted in "BLASPHEMY!!!!"

Now, someone asked my why I thought lingerie was a waste . . . and I explained:

quote:
Unless I know it'll actually be seen (by the man it's supposed to be worn for) and appreciated and not end up on the floor after five mintues . . . it's a waste of my (and probably his) hard earned money.

Thus . . . I don't . . . and won't . . . buy lingerie other than bras & panties.

To this, I was told that (I'm paraphrasing) I was in total control over these matters. This is not always the case. My comments in return were this:

quote:
1. The control is not always mine. Sometimes the guy does "fall asleep" or "pass out." It does happen.

2. I cannot name one time when the lingerie I have worn, was appreciated (so I knew it). The "feeling of the lingerie" doesn't count as "appreciation" in my book. Compliments would be nice, but again, never known what that's like, so "no lingerie."

3. You're right, it's usually the bed somewhere or a chair or something else. [nyah hah]

But seriously . . . I've never seen much "good" come from buying more expensive lingerie . . . besides . . . lace is itchy.

So, what I want to know is this:

I'm torn on this issue:

It's lovely that someone cares enough to make the effort to dress up for you. In fact I appreciate the effort more than the appearance.

Lingerie is supposed to make women appear at their most sexy, but the reality is that if you fancy someone, they look sexy in a pair of stained tracksuit bottoms and an old T-shirt.

Some of the best shags I've ever had were when neither of us looked at our best, semi-conscious bleary-eyed, hair all over the place etc.

When I used to have long-term relationships, I came to dread these romantic evenings of candles and lingerie because it seemed so forced and there was a weight of expectation.

It's the effort thing...

...kind of like a neon sight saying, "NOW"!

Leaves no chance of mixed signals.

I'd like to hear some of these examples of how you've shown a woman that you appreciate/enjoy/loved what she wore...

Also, on a side note . . . here's another question for you to ponder:

If you or your lady don't happen to be married or one (or both) of you don't have a place of your own . . . Is lingerie (more than just a bra & panties/thong) just not that important to you?

This poll contains broad questions with narrow choices.

Where did I say that "all men" think alike? If you're referring to my "choices" for the poll, I'm sorry I didn't fill out enough answers to satisfy you, but I didn't want to spend or waste a lot of time on it.

AGAIN, like I said . . . If you don't like it, you don't have to participate. NO ONE is making you or twisting your arm.

If you wish to discuss this further, take it to the propper forum, but don't keep it here on this thread. I will delete or lock this thread the moment it gets out of hand.

Not a damn, a shit! Like it says (or once said)

Eddie Guerrero said
"I've been here before. Backed into a corner, another huge obstacle, time to make a choice. You seem to be a bit preoccupied, Brock. You're not gonna be facing Eddie Guerrero the opponent tonight. You're gonna be facing Latino Heat!! They say there's No Way Out. I can think of at least one, ese (sp?). Can you?"
