I reread all the threads and NOBODY,I mean NOBODY posted about seeing it #1 on the imax (which is why those two fav. action scenes are my favorite) and #2 Christ vs. Superman and #3 the way the kid acted with Supers (they talked about the "relationship/what ifs/the future" but not the way the boy kissed him/interacted with him as in body movements/language.
There ya go Pros.........you proud of me?!? Now, I can fully relax and return to my regularly scheduled, uninterrupted life

I'm sure somebody else brought this up (I didn't read the whole thread either) but ....when Supes threw the huge kryptonian land mass into space at the end did that mean that it would become the planet Krypton all over again?

His family sends him away in a capsule to save him, he is taken in by a family of a different culture, lives a double-life because of his past, etc.

Superman: Dying for RealIt may be all over for Superman this weekend. Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns” took the biggest hit day to date from Tuesday to Wednesday this week, losing an astonishing 38.9 percent.
This was the biggest drop on that day for any film in the top 10. “Superman Returns” has now limped to about $119 million since its opening 10 days ago.
Now comes the second “Pirates of the Carribean” adventure from Disney. “Pirates 2” will likely swamp “Superman” Friday night, leaving the Man of Steel with a huge problem. With a $300 million bill to pay off, “SR” has lost significant momentum.
The fascination with “SR” box office is simply because it is probably the most expensive film ever made. “P2” may be hot on its heels, but “SR” — including various people like Nicolas Cage who were paid to go away before shooting even started — looms as a textbook case of a blockbuster gone bad.

Why are people obsessed with how much Superman made or didn't make at the box office? I couldn't give a gobdamn how much the film cost vs. how much it made in the first three minutes of opening.I enjoyed the movie......that's it.

It's a disturbing trend for sure. Superman will make at least 200 - 250 million here....then alot more overseas and then tons more in DVD sales......what's the problem?

I only care to the extent that I want the studio to keep Singer on for another one. If it "only" makes 200-250 million, it won't make back its money, which might alter Warner Bros. plan.

it can't honestly be the first time you've seen that. hell, it's been in discussions here on this board before, just last year, in fact.
like it or not, financial concerns has become a part of film discussions and will likely remain so as long as money continues to be the driving motivation behind studios. fans of films who want to see more of certain types of films want those films to do well so they can see more of them. since money is the deciding factor, that's what people obsess over.

No, its set in the present. I think the conceit was that, not unlike how comic books perpetually "move up" the dates that past events happened (ie, the comic book Superman no longer had his first adventure in 1938 but about ten years ago), Singer is "pretending" that the first two films were set in the late 90s or early part of this century.
