- Apparently Ric Flair quit WWE earlier this week. The possible departure from the company doesn't have anything to do with the recent WWE drug scandal, but sources say he's just frustrated with his push and hasn't received any encouraging communication from WWE management.

As of now WWE hasn't given Ric Flair his release. WWE management are trying hard to get Flair to cool down and not quit the company. Discussions are going on to sort things out because WWE really doesn't want Flair to leave.

And now sources tell me that Booker T has apparently quit the WWE as well. Expect news of this to appear by the weekend.

Ric Flair was on local sports talk show Prime Time with The Packman this morning on WFNZ in Charlotte, NC. He said he will be opening a new business in Charlotte this week called Ric Flair Finance. Flair talked a little bit about football before the host asked him if he really quit WWE. Flair kinda laughed at it and said "No, it's not true," and asked what WWE would do without him. He didn't seem too sure of himself, but he said he would talk more about everything next week on the same show. Reports have Flair and WWE continuing to talk after a creative disagreement. He remains under contract with the company and it is expected he'll be back after things smooth over and an agreement is reached.

By all accounts, he's too fucking broke to even consider quitting...

Here's the full story behind recent Ric Flair rumors, according to the September 10 Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Ric Flair was brought to the Smackdown tapings in Columbia, South Carolina, on the 21 August but then told he wasn't going to be used, despite the fact that he would have been immensely over with the local fans. This upset him, as had many things in recent months.

- He lost clean to an Indian deathlock in a match with Finlay on the 02 July, despite Flair being promised a big push after he was switched from Raw to Smackdown in the draft lottery.

- He wanted to turn heel because he feels he can work better that way, yet WWE wouldn't allow it because the fans love him to much to boo him.

- He and Carlito were told they would have a WrestleMania match together, only for it to be shunted to the pre-show. That one upset him so much that he threatened to no-show the Hall of Fame ceremony, yet he did attend and numerous inductees made sure they put him over in their speeches.

Steve Austin wanted him on the Mania card and so pitched an idea to Vince McMahon for a long program geared towards a huge Flair match at WrestleMania 24. Basically, Flair would lose a bunch of matches and then reach the end of his tether, promising to retire for good if he lost one more match. He would go on a winning streak and appear on all three brands, with it culminating in a Hall of Fame induction and his big final match at WrestleMania. Vince loved the idea and presented it, giving full credit to Austin, to the creative team, telling them they should start it as soon as possible. Brian Gerwitz, never a fan of Flair in his prime, had reservations about putting Flair, at his age, over so many people. He, Vince, Stephanie and Triple H kept discussing the plan and it kept getting delayed and eventually scrapped.

In the meantime, Flair has been working hard at launching his financial company. Also, supported by his new wife Tiffany, he is said to finally be in the frame of mind to realise that his wrestling career is over. Once all of this came to a head in Columbia, he quit. A number of people in WWE were very surprised by this, especially as Vince McMahon had lent him a significant sum of money for legal bills and assistance with his IRS trouble.

At this point in time, it remains to be seen if Flair would even attend next year's Hall of Fame ceremony.

To follow up on the earlier Ric Flair story, the Nature Boy recently appeared on the "Primetime with the Packman" radio show (click here for an MP3 of the interview) to discuss college football, and was asked about rumors that he "quit" WWE.

Flair's response: "That is not true. What would WWE do without me?"

He said he couldn't comment on the recent WWE suspensions, talked about his finance company, and said he'd talk more about WWE when he co-hosts the show this Thursday with Mark Packer.

PWInsider is reporting that Flair and WWE are "speaking amicably towards a resolution" to his issues, and that he remains under WWE contract. PWTorch.com says that Flair "quit" WWE according to site editor Wade Keller's multiple sources, and that since he gave notice WWE has been "diligently" trying to get him to change his mind. Of course, Keller writes, neither WWE or Flair is happy that this story got out, with both sides thinking the other is responsible for the leak. That being said, the fact Flair is denying it publicly shows Flair isn't making this he-said/she-said in the press.
