The theater down the street from me announced today that they will be building an imax theater, the first one in Eugene. They're goal is to have it done by the Summer of 2012. I really hope I get the next Batman movie in it.

First casting news for Batman 3
 It's full steam ahead for the next Batman adventure, with the confirmation that Christopher Nolan is definitely directing, and that the shoot is likely to start next April. As such, the first pieces of the casting jigsaw have been falling into place.
Christian Bale is obviously back in the title role, and many of the other names from Nolan's first two Batman films - Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman - are also more than likely to return. But the first newcomer to Nolan's Gotham City? That'd be Tom Hardy.
Deadline has reported that the actor, who appeared in Inception for Nolan, has signed up to appear in a lead role in the new film, even if we've no idea right now just what that lead role could be. The logical bet would be that he's a villain of some sorts - could he even be The Riddler? - but we await confirmation of that in due course.
Batman 3, as we seem to be calling it, is out in July 2012.

Robin Williams To Play Dr. Hugo Strange In Dark Knight Rises?- Well, this is certainly out of left field. If you were expecting the Dark Knight Rises rumors to end now that we’ve finally started getting a real cast, you apparently don’t know how the internet works. This evening the web has been aflutter with rumors that Robin Williams will play Dr. Hugo Strange. It all seems to stem from a tweet by Batman On Film, but as Caped Crusader sources go, they’re among the most trustworthy.
You may remember ages ago, Williams came within a hair of landing the coveted Joker role in Tim Burton’s Batman, but it was not to be. Still, after all those years, the longing hasn’t quite died. The comedian who’s arguably better in his dramatic roles openly said last year that he’d work on The Dark Knight Rises in a second, but up until now, his words seemed more like longing than real casting news.
I’m not completely sold. Thus far, there’s been no confirmation from Williams, the studio or Christopher Nolan; so, even as much as I trust Batman On Film, I must recommend you take this purely as a rumor for the time being. What a glorious rumor it is though. For those of you unfamiliar with Gotham, Dr. Hugo Strange is a Batman-obsessed villain psychologist with more than a few screws loose. Williams has not only won an Academy Award for playing a shrink but has also crushed all of his creepy psychopath roles in the past.
Expect the actual facts on this within a few days.

williams is an awesome creepy guy. would be a great fit to the nolan verse.
i don't think I've ever liked hugo strange, tho. seemed more of an annoyance than a threat, and his visual now reminds me too much of the doctor from animaniacs. i also always hate villains whose premise hangs too much on "i know who you are". ra's escapes that by never really giving a fuck about the true identity.
are there better hugo strange stories out there im missing and should read...?

I don't think I've ever read a Hugo Strange story either. I only know him from this and the Arkham City trailer.

I have literally like 12 Batman comics, and half of those are from the Englehart/Rogers run from the 70s where Strange shows up. Great stuff. I think the trade that collects the whole thing is called Strange Apparitions.

I remember being introduced to Hugo Strange in some Batman Annual from the 80's. Williams would make it work. And with Ann Hathaway as Catwoman, would round out an already awesome cast. Hope this is true. Meanwhile, I wonder who Tom Hardy is playing? Could be someone like Hush. Or, as I would prefer, someone like Deathstroke, Deadshot, or Prometheus. Wikipedia says Bane, but that's Wikipedia...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Talks To Join 'The Dark Knight Rises' EXCLUSIVE: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to reunite with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises for Warner Bros. I'm not sure what role he'll play, but I'm told that he will be in the movie when Nolan starts production this spring. Gordon-Levitt will be done shooting the Rian Johnson-directed Looper with Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt by then. Gordon-Levitt has the indie Hesher coming out this spring, as well as Live With It, the Jonathan Levine-directed pic about a 27-year old who tries to overcome a cancer diagnosis. CAA-repped Gordon-Levitt established himself with indie films like Brick, the underrated Scott Frank-directed The Lookout, and the Marc Webb-directed (500) Days of Summer. Nolan keeps his films shrouded in secrecy, though he did lift the veil recently to disclose that Anne Hathaway would play Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and Gordon-Levitt's Inception co-star Tom Hardy will play Bane. What role fits Gordon-Levitt?

I think the trade that collects the whole thing is called Strange Apparitions. i just... went to a 24 hour comic shop and legally purchased detective comics 469-479, which contains the run you mentioned and hugo strange stories. it did not change my opinion (and, frankly, made me more impressed by BTAS' retelling of many of these events). at least in the comic world, hugo strange is only successful if batman first admits himself to a doctor. then, hugo's only ace is knowing batman's identity, and not, for example, telling everyone in the world or... i dunno... killing batman while he's lying there. then the goal is to... pretend to be bruce wayne, spurn his girlfriend, and ruin his stock portfolio? boo. granted, nolan is awesome, so i'm more than happy waiting to see what his take on the character would be. he's been goddamn spot-on re-inventing every other character to fit his world, so i'm sure (if included) he'd have similar projections for hugo "hurley" strange. at least i hope so.

My bet is that he's not the Riddler or any super-type but more likely a "civilian" supporting character, perhaps a new DA to take the place of Harvey and Rachael or a midlevel thug, ala Falcone.
