if it offers any clarity, i don't think i've ever been pissed off with you - or, to a larger extent, any poster, or topic, on these boards, ever. maybe my tone doesn't come across well enough to express that, but i'd so-sooner not care about something than invest bitterness into it (at least for the sake of bitterness, and not, like, funny bitterness). i don't think about the forum when i'm not posting, and i've always been able to use the boards solely as a distraction from working. its all fun to me, even the debates and arguments. they're enjoyable! doesn't matter if its political or comic bookical, i've always loved seeing a viewpoint that isn't my own, and these boards have been great for that over the years.

the most "damning" thing i'll do is stop addressing a topic or poster when i've lost interest. for example, i almost never head to the political forum because its a waste of my time. g-man is a conservative codger, and you're a liberal baby. the subject matter has changed only slightly in the past 6, 7 years, but the bulk of the threads i could join in now, i avoided when they were new(er) 6, 7 years ago.

specifically referencing the 9-11 thread, i didn't get pissed off at your thoughts. i thought your viewpoint was confusing, illogical, silly, and/or thematic with your current role, but i didn't get pissed off. i'm not angry with you for them - it's your opinion, what the fuck do i care? i was enjoying the discussion.

if i recall correctly, i think i said a few times in that thread that it was fun to actually dig that deep into a conversation here on the boards, which i haven't done in a while. you, on the otherhand, left the conversation... temporarily. which i also called you on. and you relented and re-entered. and then, a few pages later, it was resolved. at the end, my opinion is largely the same, i think yours was as well. i didn't feel any need to continue the conversation, and was satisfied in having not-worked for a few hours during each day it was at its peak. pretty much the same thinking with the GL discussion, since you mentioned it. thats all i'm ever really looking for.

on a general note...

i will say that, at least from my perspective, you have changed a bit over the past few months. possibly during the 9-11 thread (at least that's where i first noticed it). i don't know if its best characterized as "much more liberalier", but certainly much more dramatic. again, just from my perspective. previously, you always seemed ... i dunno... easier going...?

this thread, the rex dots battle, your comments with doc in a video game thread, battles with UJ, etc. im not making some grandiose analysis of your character or anything nutty like that, and i know the likely responses will be something like "he's always been a dick!!!", which i'm also not intentionally seeking.

but, seriously, is something different in the past half o'year?

sometimes, the boards just sit at a window, as beads of rain collect upon it's reflection. a storm brews outside. it's cold. a stray dog barks in the distance.

it thinks about the good times we had. version 7. version 3. random flashes of logos and musical theme icons. the boards smile. it has to. the memories are the only thing it has that are good.

but the memories fade.

time moves on.

a flash of lightning.

a crash of thunder.

Absolutely, 100% serious, honestly? From Devin, not Pro? I quit my old job and got a dream job which gives me so much freedom (financially as well as literal time) that I can dedicate a larger portion of my day to these boards. I've been working hard since I was 14, and now at (nearly) 39 it's hard to not have something constantly on my shoulders driving me through each day. At first it was cool. But, then it started getting boring because...well...no one posts here, really. Just the handful. There was a deadness to the activity. So, I started getting more political. Got involved in local protests and rallies (still am). But, that was more as a new hobby than anything. Then, I saw where Dave, the Wonder Boy was reacting to everything I said. So, I began to get more extreme, more silly. A LOT more obvious with how ridiculously over the top I was being (I thought). And I noticed there were more posts starting to appear each day. More G-Man. More JLA. More Iggy. More Dave. More fun.

Wondy's a sheep. G-Man's a shill. Pariah, the "Conscience of the Message Boards" is...well...just fucking crazy. These things are constant.

Now, add couple of weeks of trolling-mixed-with getting reeeaaalllly stoned, mixed with the timing of The OWS Movements, the 9/11 Thread here, Rex cracking like a nut from....nothing at all, and the height of tormenting Wondy......and the final epic EXPLOSION of you universally eradicating modships!

Then....quietly...we all drifted and spun like leaves, fiery embers trailing on the tips of our once-magnificent angel wings, or like when all the Kryptonians "fell into" the heart of the planet before it exploded in Donner's 1978 film.

Then, silence. Except Jake suddenly freaking out over my Twitter timeline.

And even though many suggestions have been made to come up with some reason for my alternating persona, whether personal or hilarious, that's honestly all it is. Boredom. No more. No less. I'm still the exact same guy. I just don't give a fuck anymore. The ones I care about...the always been reasonable people....Neilencio, Douglas, Foster, Phil, Boston David, The Doog, PCG, Jake, Mxy, Jordan, Paul, Courtney, Frank Lothar, The Captain, MEM, you Robert, even G-Gordan and sometimes Wondy-Dave...I got nothing against you in any real fashion. This is a message board. An antiquated, soon-to-be-extinct mode of socializing. I'm just having fun the only way I know how here anymore. Nothing is meant to be serious-serious-serious, you know?

If I can get someone to react and get all pissy to simple words, then I accomplished what I set out to get: board activity. Being nice or just chatting didn't seem to be getting anywhere.

P.S. Think about the only reason I could have wanted to make this thread. And to list names specifically? To get exactly what I'm wanting: reactions. Interaction. Banding together against a common annoyance. Or simply sitting around insulting each other. Either way, isn't it better than just another update to one of Wondy's Kiddy-Porn & Obscure Comics Blog?
