losing toes/feet is the first step in a long, painful process of dying for diabetics. he was trying to save himself (and probably his family) a lot of pain.

I don't know about that...a guy I know lost a foot from diabetes about 20 years ago when he was in his 60s. He's in his 80s now and still going strong.

His family are a bunch of pricks if they would be relieved to have him dead.

For many diabetics, losing the toes is the first in a line of amputations. Many go on with a good life after that. For many others, the next phase is losing the foot, leg, etc.

Many get blind, or so I've heard from someone who suffers from Type 1 diabetes.

here's me spoonfeeding information to you in the hope that you finally get what's being said: the mentality of people who attempt/commit suicide is that they feel that they (and the world around them, including their families) would all be better off if they simply stopped existing. they feel that by ending their lives they are saving everyone involved would be spared a lot of pain and suffering. they are of course, unaware of the pain and suffering that their suicide causes in those around them. they're so fixated on the concept of ending things that they are blinded to anything and everything else around them. this is the mentality of the man who attempted to shoot himself. he *thought* he would be saving himself and his family a lot of pain, oblivious to the pain he would instead be causing and has indeed caused. No, really. I thank you for the time and effort you have taken to explain what you *tried* to tell before, despite the obvious (mental or physical) pain it has induced on your person. I hope the use of the f-word has relieved you from feelings of aggressions. If it haven't, I recommend you follow the example of Uschie and leave these boards before they've made you even more angry and frustrated. You have made it *perfectly* clear to me what you were driving at. A pity that neither you, or thedoctor, said so from the very beginning. Instead, thedoctor and Prometheus said that once one have to amputate a body-part due to diabetes type I, it *always* mean that one will have to amputate several other body-parts. From what I've read in this thread, it was implied that this poor man was *correct* in his assessment that his life was now worthless. NO ONE HERE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT HOW THE NEXT OF KIN WOULD IN FACT BE SAD OVER HIS (FORTUNATELY NOT OCCURRED) DEMISE. Or that he was wrong to think that they would be relieved.

Missed it again. I also don't see a post at all where Pro makes such a statement as you claim he did.

You were the first person to mention a belief that disabled people weren't worthy of life. No one here said or inferred that. And you were the only one who kept pushing that point. This whole thread was about a man trying to take his own life, not others trying to take it from him. It's not my or anyone else's fault that you jumped to an incorrect conclusion and trying to drive it home when everyone else kept posting that you were on the wrong track.
