From what I've read, Jean is back because the "original" X-men are
traveling in time to the modern day Marvel U.
- the original five x-men time-travel two the present in a pleasantville style story and who are not going to like what they see once they are in the present and will find it unacceptable. Bendis says the time travel aspect of the story is not as important as the character based drama.
Which would seem to imply some sort of "culture clash," not unlike what the characters in "Pleasantville" experienced when they travelled to a fictional reality set approximately forty years in the past ...and which would seem ignore the fact that, in Marvel time, the X-men were students at most ten years ago.
So what's the big culture clash between now and 2002? The quality of internet porn not up to what they hoped by now?
