I was pleasantly surprised by that flick, particularly by just how gory it was. Right now I'm re-watching The League via Netflix. Great stuff.

Really? I didn't find it gory at all. Yeah, there was a ton of fake blood in it; but the gore wasn't anything over standard action movie fair. Even the dude they pried out of the wood chipper was really just a red stump. Even the deformed faces were most just blood to cover everything up.

caught this on netflix and yeah...that dude is fucking crazy. Good piano player though.

I'M SO GLAD someone else has seen him in this! WTF is he on?!?!? I'm telling you, he's either shroomin', dropped acid, or is smoking peyote. Motherfucker was fucked UP in that.

Also, it could be he wanted the money to do the interview, but hates Shatner and wasn't prepared to talk about himself, personally. A decent tactic, if so...

I'm half way through Milton Friedman's Free to Choose series.

Can't believe I never took the time to watch this before. It's hard to believe PBS actually had a program worth watching.

You know when they announced this, I didn't think that it was going to work. But after watching I have to say, that, yes, I was right. It doesn't work. They spent too much time firmly linking it into the Damon movies while trying to up it with a sci-fi plot twist to make Renner's spy more kick ass than Damon's. But some of it felt like rehash and none of the scenes/stunts top or even match what came before.

I've been having a Sci-Fi marathon over the last couple of days.

Started with Alien Nation--which I will remind myself from now on never to watch again. I keep forgetting how much it ruined the original film with its preachy bullshit.

Right now, I've been switching between DS9 and Voyager. After that, it'll be Enterprise.

All of them can be a tad pretentious, but not as much as TNG, which I'm skipping entirely.

Why even watch Voyager? It's the Cousin Oliver of the Trek franchise.

DS9 was able to undo a lot of the TNG preachy by being tongue in cheek, much like the original series.

As badly written as much of Voyager is, I always felt it was the superior concept. I just like the "Lost in Space" feel even if a lot of the stories are crap. That's especially why I enjoyed the third season of Enterprise.

It's been a long time since I watched DS9, so I've forgotten a great deal, but thus far, it definitely has much better writing than TNG. My only huge problem with it is that Benjamin Sisko has an irritating tendency to speak out both ends of his mouth on every issue--especially when it came to the 'religion in school' episode at the end of season one. And Dax is consistently annoying too.

As usual, however, the engineer, O'Brien is the most charismatic of the cast. But Quark is a lot cooler than I remember him being.

All in all, not enough Federation-bashing for my taste thus far.

A simple and often boring story about greed and desperation. The cast was good so it wasn't a total loss.

The first couple of seasons are shoddy. I think they were still trying to figure out how to make the concept work. Season three on are damn good though. I think that has a lot to do not only with the whole Dominion storyline, but that's when they really start making a lot of the fun episodes. Especially the ones centering in on the Ferengi.

O'Brien is gold. Colm Meaney is brilliant. I always liked the character on TNG and was excited about him getting his own place to shine on DS9. The episodes where he was captured by the Cardassians and put on trial, when he was put in a 'thought prison' by another alien race, and the one where he thinks the crew of DS9 are plotting a conspiracy are my favorites centered on the character.

Quark is fucking great at pointing out the utopia bullshit that came out of thin air for TNG. The shit with Jeffrey Combs as Brunt are fucking hilarious. TNG tried to make Ferengi evil. DS9 made them fun.

There's more to come. Plus, you have to pay attention. Sometimes they're just one liners that you may miss.

very low budget (the setting is just basically the women's restroom for 90% of the movie), but really good. Some guy at the IMDBs is complaining about the thick British accents and slang but I honestly didn't find anything hard to understand, the accents on Harry Potter films are way more difficult to get. Although the confusion between "Geoff" and "Jeff" is lost on me because I have always pronounced the two names differently.

Jebus criminey, I forgot how crappy this series is.

Before Future's End, there were some fun ones here and there, but after that point, it's already on the verge of going full retard.

Future's End is the Trekkies' answer to denial: "We don't accept for a moment that private businessmen concerned only with prophet developed our sophisticated technology! Clearly, it was simply stolen from a brighter Utopian future! IT'S THE ONLY EXPLANATION!!"

And, of course--after preaching up a storm about how the technology doesn't belong in that century--Janeway and friends have no problem with holding on to the portable holo-emitter. No, there's no hypocrisy there at all.

I never understood the utter fascination with Jeri Ryan. She was good looking, yeah; but she wasn't the super hot babe that they tried to play her as. She was nerd show hot, and that's all.

I'll say this much for Seven: she's five pegs above Troi in terms of figure and character.
