I recall reading about quite a few Classic Hollywood stars who were vocal Republicans, including Erroll Flynn.
Whereas now, making known your conservative views will get you boycotted in Hollywood. Just ask Kelsey Grammar, Scott Baio, Dean Cain, Robert Davi, and many lesser-known stars. You pretty much have to be someone as established as Clint Eastwood or John Voight for it not to tank your acting career.
