good lord... no fair guessing!?

... if i had to guess... id say in the neighborhood of 1-2,000?

i prolly have 300-600 "mainstays" (books i love and would never part with, like dark knight returns, kingdom come, all issues of current jla volume, etc...)

i've been collecting comics regularly since... i dunno, mebbe 1990?

but, then there's the weird factor: since 97/1998, i get a monthly box of every comic DC produces -- usually contains about 100 comics. but most i sell or give away, or even toss in the trash! so, my collection numbers can vary by several hundred in any given month.

so, my TRUE collection is probably around 750-1000 books. (but, of all the comics i have/had, it'd prolly be close to 6,000).

I own maybe a hundred comics.

I've read like maybe 10-12,000. Probably more.

I haven't counted, but I have a pretty accurate list of them all:

I counted them a couple of months ago. I have around 1500 comics I wouldn't sell or trade, and about 50 I don't care about.

My collection is like more than 1100 (1100 was number I had on the last count... it's increased).

Way too damn many.

Could be anywhere between one and five thousand, been collecting comics on and off since late 80s, and I've been collecting them habitually like crack for about two or three years now.

Get outta town, man. I am not counting them. A guestimate will have to suffice.

I had several thousand accumulated from 1970-1992, but I sold almost all of them off in '92 to get them out of my mother's house and to put them to some financial use. Cashing in an investment, so to speak. I kept only those that had genuine sentimental value to me, e.g., my run of UXM (94-143), etc.

Now, I'm down to fewer than 500 easily.

and then literally hundreds of comics in a big pile in my closet

Excellent thread.

Very good. I approve.

I've probably got around 500 comic books. Not so much a collection, as they're the ones I HAVEN'T lost along the way.

It helps that that place on Pines Blvd. right now offers back issues at half price though; I was there just last week.

Not including the TPBs (that take up two and a half shelves in my book case), I have around 3,600 and change. I've been readin' 'em since '94 and will prolly be hooked for life.

Actually the card they gave me says Cards Comics & Beepers at 7619 Pines so probably not, cause much of my collection came from that store many years when my mother was helping me with leftover issues for my checklists. My first time there was just a few months ago.

Same place

Baseball Cards & More II, Inc.
7619 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL, 33024

It's old info, so you're probably right. That's where I go to, since I live in the area and it's right across the street from BCC.

Oh, I see.

Tom was the one I talked to mostly when I was there, and thanks to a few pictures I brought he remembers when my mother came by a few times. I also told him about how I made this. I'll probably bring a picture of that next time as well, maybe after I fix it up some more.

I have somewhere between a holy-bunch and a fuckload. 12,000-13,000, just to guess. Maybe slightly less than that, but not much.

I've got about 35 longboxes, plus 3 short boxes and another equivalent of a longbox full of other random sized issues (LCEs, digests, MAD Magazines, etc)

I stopped counting my long boxes after 25.

I'd guess about 35-40 by now....

One day soon I'm going to try to winnow it down to just DC stuff and classic MARVEL issues.

All that 90's Image and independent crap must go! I will however keep the X-Files and Mars Attacks comics of that era.

This was a miscount. I left out a box of 114, so the correct total is 3006. Still less than the average collector according to Unbreakable (unwatchable) but at least I made it to three grand.

This would be a good project after I finish my search. I have 8 short boxes, 3 or 4 of which are actually full. God (or Rain Man) knows how many comics that is. There's a lot of crap from either miscellaneous box that I should rid myself of. Do trades count?
