Syfy has cut a deal with David S. Goyer for a Superman prequel revolving around the Man of Steel’s grandfather.

David S. Goyer, the prolific producer who has shepherded DC Comics properties in the past including “Man of Steel,” is spearheading “Krypton” with DC Entertainment and Warner Horizon Television. Ian Goldberg (“Once Upon a Time”) is writing the teleplay based on a story that he conceived with Goyer.

The project will revolve around Superman’s grandfather as he struggles to bring hope and equality to the planet Krypton at a time when the house of El is shamed and ostracized.

Goyer and Goldberg are exec producers.
This looks just terrible.
Since it's set in Krypton, I'm assuming we're not going to see Superman-like powers at play. In which case, what would be the point? As shallow as it seems, the Superman franchise's main selling point is people who can fly and lift trucks.

Some of the old Golden Age stories depicted Kryptonians as having powers. Maybe SyFy will go with that theory. Though I suspect their plan is to do a "Game of Thrones" kind of thing where Krypton is a hotbed of political intrigue on a planet populated by weird creatures.
well if they're going to cash in on GoT's success they better have nudity.
and if they want Lothar as an audience, it better be male nudity.

So, funny shaped swords instead of the regular straight type?

"House of El, you are disgraced!"

Sheesh.
The World of Krypton mini by Byrne and Mignola was pretty cool and I think every issue (they're all set in different eras) could probably work as a good show. This probably won't be it though. They'll probably have Syeg-El as a conflicted teen played by a 30 year old.
and he's going to have washboard abs and brooding eyes.
And he'll know just what it takes to make Pro blush
