I cant really say too much, and am a bit upset right now, but today I received news that Harley passed away suddenly on Tuesday.
I miss her already.

The hell?
God. Damn.
We weren't super close. Back when she was on the board she and I used to p.m. once in a while about legal stuff. I enjoyed those discussions. I enjoyed her contributions to the board. I've missed her contributions since she left.
Some clichés are true. In Harleys case the cliche that she was a beautiful person inside and out was 100% accurate.
R.I.P., counselor.

What happened?????????

Posted By: Nöwheremän Re: Rest in peace Harley - 2014-12-18 3:54 AM
Details are sketchy, and I really dont want to go into the ins and outs of it as I have been close friends with her for quite a few years now.
I just felt that although she has not visited this board in years and its no longer a busy site, we always said on here that if any of us passes away how would any of us know. I felt guys here who didnt maintain a friendship with her outside of the boards had a right to know that we lost one of the best of us.

harley still thinks about the rkmbs from time to time, to the point where discussions about residential mortgage backed securities at work has her saying RKMBs instead of RMBS.

she kept up with people from the rkmbs who have facebook accounts and still remembered all the injokes even though she stopped visiting the boards.

I got the message on my phone, and it threw me for a loop. She was a good person, and I'll miss my little Jewrican.

She was extremely proud of her sister for directing a movie where a major character is based on Harley herself (PM me and I'll tell you the name). I asked if the character used to post on shady message board and she said: "Rumor has it she did post on a MB that was a wretched hive of scum and villainy, but she loved those boys anyway."
Posted By: Captain Sammitch Re: Rest in peace Harley - 2014-12-18 5:24 AM
I just stumbled upon this while at work and I'm just... I don't know. She was always so kind and open and made time to listen whenever she possibly could. Always supportive and there with good advice, and she always had something brilliantly insightful to say. I hold a number of you in the same regard as friends I see in person every day, and she was no exception. This hurts, and I'm far from the only one this hurts. Praying for her family - and for you guys too.

Speechless.

I'd just found her on Facebook less than two weeks ago. Hadn't even had a chance to really talk to her again. We used to PM constantly, as she was always asking for advice about love and life. I, in turn, loved having her attention and loved getting to know her. She was a sweet lady with a wit and fire none have ever matched around here.

Goodbye Harley. Miss you.

No news on services yet. I was able to find an online guest book. For those interested I've already talked to PJP about getting some flowers sent to the funeral as soon as we know where and when to send them. I'll probably try and set up a PayPal exchange or something. I'll put whatever we work out here for those who want to contribute.

I didn't cross paths with Harleykwin much here, but I enjoyed chatting with her when we had the occasion.

I took the liberty of pulling up her list of RKMB posts for those of you who'd like to look back on past discussions with her here on the boards. She hasn't posted here since Nov 2008, like so many others, I don't understand why everyone suddenly left the boards. I see a lot of you posting here that I haven't seen in a long time.

She was only in her early 40's, I wonder what could have possibly happened to her.

I also dug up the -((Random Interview))- {Quickie Edition} : The RKMBs Wimmen topic, that has a brief interview of Harley, along with the other wimmen-folk.

Just got word that the family had the funeral today. We're looking at maybe a charitable donation or something in her name once we find out what the family is going to do.

I didn't know Harly well but I really liked her and she was one of the first people I met on the DC message boards.

I was glad to see she made it over here and posted.

\:\( I haven't been around...at all really. But I spent so many hours talking to all of you that it only takes a second to remember all the seriously funny and awesome things so many people contributed to this group over the years.

I remember Harley got mad at me over something I can't even remember now, it made me sad at the time and sadder now.
Rest In Peace, Harley

You as well, Jake. You too, Dave Barker/Pigs. It's good to see you all. Shame it had to be this that brought us back together.

This makes me very sad. Outside of this board I haven't kept track of anyone other than reading Mxy's awesome Cracked articles. I've even joke to my wife that I liked Mxy before he was cool. I always liked Harley and I've thought about how she's been randomly since she stopped posting. This board has literally been a part of my life for 1/3 of the time I've been on this planet and even though I don't post much I've always thought of everyone here as friends. I even considered crashing one of Bobo's Thanksmas parties years ago just so I could meet him. I hope everyone here posts to that obituary page so her family can see how many people she reached through out this world
Posted By: Rob Re: Rest in peace Harley - 2014-12-20 5:23 AM
at the very least, its impressive to note that harley had this level of impact, across dozens of folks, all around the globe, widely spread the span of the intrawebs, for a decade.

she's good people, still.

Hurm.....This is depressing.

I really didn't know Harley very well....Like, at all. But this is an untimely death and she was a kind enough person that it bothers me to know she's gone....or rather, know that one of us is gone.

...I'm not gonna lie. It felt very weird to type that last sentence.

Does Uschi already know about this? I recall they were friends.

Yes, she knows.

I think she heard on Facebook.

I had a falling out with Uschi.

About two years ago we had an argument, she blocked me on Facebook and I haven't heard from her since.

I really miss her.

She didnt block me on FB, but removed me from her friends list because I got sick of all the political stuff clogging up my timeline, and made mention of it. Shit happens and I am sure there is no hard feelings between us.

I never liked that band. Three chords, too much hair.

And so hello, everyone. I assume this thread functions as a message board wake.

I don't especially recall having much to do with Harley, but in my limited interactions with her she seemed nice, so this was sad news.

I've been gone the past week with family for Christmas. This is the latest that we know about charity donations that her family is requesting.

 Quote:
The Fisher's are establishing a memorial fund: With the outpouring of love for Kahlia, the family and I have discussed honoring her memory with a scholarship or other gift at Stuyvesant High School. I've been trading messages with the school about the details, towards a plan to launch a formal campaign and online link to donate. In the meantime, supporters can send checks made out to the "Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association", with memo "Kahlia Fisher", and mail them to
Hillary Anger Elfenbein
106 Aberdeen Place, Clayton MO 63105.
Please include a note with your email address so we can acknowledge the gift. Donations to the SHSAA are tax-deductible.

How did Harley die ?
It seems kind of odd that there is no obituary summary of her life, or explanation of how she died, even in the memorial link. I even googled, and didn't see any newspaper obituary notice of her death.

She was only about 43 years old, and that's way too young to go, by natural causes.

In any case, my sympathies to her friends and family.

harley and i had a really special friendship for a time. for several months, my entire time on these boards was spent PMing with her...hours each night. we spoke a few times on the phone and she had a way of brightening my day when things weren't going well. i haven't communicated with her at all since 2008 but, i am immeasurably sad to learn of her passing. the world has just become less for me than it was a moment ago...

Rest, Kahlia...you were loved and will be missed.
