New York Post:
  • An upstate TV exec who set up a channel promoting Muslims as peace-loving people was stressed about his failing business in the days before he allegedly chopped off his estranged wife's head, a friend of the couple said today.

An order of protection barring Muzzammil Hassan, 44, from the couple's upstate home had been taken out by his wife, Aasiya, 37, less than a week before she died.

The couple was in the process of divorcing after bouts of domestic violence, her lawyer told the Buffalo News.

Hassan, who founded Bridges TV in 2004 to counter anti-Islam stereotypes following 9/11, turned himself in to cops Thursday in the Buffalo suburb of Orchard Park. Police later found his beheaded wife in the TV studios.

    He was charged with murder.

"He was worried about the station's future," said Dr. Khalid Qazi, a friend of the couple and president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Western New York, who last spoke to the Hassans a week ago.

"He was stressed, but this has left me absolutely shocked. I still cannot believe it."

Police have still not found the weapon used in the killing, an officer said today.

Bridges TV was set up with $10 million in backing from more than 50 investors. Two years ago, Hassan told Arab News magazine he needed another $5 million and was reaching out to supporters in Saudi Arabia.

Hassan, a father of four who moved to the United States from Pakistan 25 years ago, worked as a banker in Buffalo before quitting to start up the station.

The family home was empty today. A police note stuck to the door five hours before Aasiya's body was found asked her to contact cops.

Nobody at the Orchard Park Police Department today could explain why officers wanted to speak to her.

Yes. I'm sure religion had nothing to do with it. Millions of people who experience financial trouble behead their wives...and when was the last time you heard of a Muslim beheading anyone?

I'd bet all those bastards involved in the French revolution were Muslims too!

God, you are fucking stupid. Did you even read the article? The guy isn't French. His name is Muzzammil Hassan and he ran a TV network for Muslims. What religion do you think he practiced, dipshit?

I think (and hope) that was Snarf's feeble attempt at being ironic by drawing a horrible comparison. You know, modern day Muslims aren't that different from the Caucasian/Christian French who held mass beheadings during the French Revolution.

I guess he wants you to forget that the French Revolution ended 200 years ago, and that their society is much more civilized now.

I don't know. Snarf has to be someone's alt.

Every thing snarf does is feeble.

Well, he did brag about being skilled at selling worthless magazine subscriptions to unsuspecting kids before getting bounced from GameStop...

I think he was trying to sell something else to unsuspecting kids, and that's why he got fired.

Snarf really needs to stop listening to liberal talk radio and watching MSNBC.

And you need to start aiming for the laundry room! I wasn't built for your slimy socks!!!!!

Beheading an Honor Killing? Islamic experts say the murder of Muslim TV executive's wife has all the markings of an honor killing

no wonder Snarf cant get laid. can you imagine snarf on a date(i know its far fetched, stay with me) and this coming across the radio, and he goes off on some rant against the french. the girl would likely ask to get out at the next stop light.

You know, I have to question what you were thinking with this post, bsams.

Usually you are spot-on, but this latest attack on snarf is a bit of a reach.

I mean, come on...do we even know that Snarf owns a car?

I was assuming his mom was driving them on the date.

I'm sorry basams, I've heard that sometimes you need to suspend your disbelief, but this "scenario" of yours is simply way too far fetched...

Not Guilty Plea in Beheading Case: Founder of Muslim-American television channel pleads not guilty to murder in the beheading of his wife

Honor Killings on the Rise
  • studies in Middle East Quarterly have shown that “honor killings” are all too real and on the rise. Women have been honor-killed for refusing to veil themselves, marry their first cousins, or remain in dangerously abusive marriages, for wanting to choose their own husbands, and for behaving in “western” ways.

While Hindus and Sikhs do, to a much lesser extent, honor-kill their women, in Europe 96 percent of honor killings in the last 20 years were Muslim-on-Muslim. The average age of European women who were honor-murdered was 21; 66 percent were honor-murdered by their family of origin; 44 percent were murdered by multiple perpetrators; 68 percent were gruesomely tortured. Nearly half of these women lived in England.
or did they...

New York Judge Allows Beheading Suspect to Be Own Attorney:
  • A former New York TV executive accused in the gruesome beheading his estranged wife has been granted permission to act as his own defense lawyer for the rest of his murder trial.

In a reversal Monday, a judge allowed Muzzammil Hassan to take over as lead counsel from attorney Jeremy Schwartz. The two have been at odds over Hassan's defense since the trial began in Buffalo last week. Schwartz will stay on to help.

Judge Thomas Franczyk initially denied Hassan's request, but relented when Schwartz brought up their differences again Monday.

Hassan is accused of killing his 37-year-old wife Aasiya Hassan inside the offices of Bridges TV, the Muslim-oriented television station the couple founded to counter negative images of Muslims after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"She was very much aware of the potential ramification her filing for divorce might have," said attorney Elizabeth DiPirro, whose law firm, Hogan Willig, represented Aasiya Hassan in divorce proceedings. "But she wanted to proceed despite the potential for it to erupt."

DiPirro said the couple had "physical confrontations off and on" for their entire eight-year marriage that had escalated to death threats. The grounds for divorce were "cruel and inhuman treatment," DiPirro said, referring to multiple prior incidents of abuse.

"We were worried about the situation becoming volatile," DiPirro said.

the law firm above is actually double fail when it comes to credibility, since there's also a terrorist network called the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
