Fantasy Baseball League '08, anyone?

Just wonderin'. I'm ready to go (despite knowing no one but the big names)...

I'll start one this Saturday, I imagine...

The usual suspects will be invited. Probably a default scoring format.

Hook a brutha up. Then invite me - I need to atone for the sins of Marbury Truck Party.

I'm gonna be tied up (not literally, sadly) until Saturday.

I'll start some sort of a league that will be subject to change if everbuddah wants a certain stat or draft time, etc.

The latest date that I could get for a live draft is Feb 29, @ 11:15 Eastern.

The only live draft times in March are during the day, 5 PM at the latest, which blows.

Unless you guys want a Saturday draft at 5 PM or something...

Are there any February dates where we can draft at, say, 10pm? That, or weekends before 6pm would be perfect for me. Either way, anything but AutoDraft.

10:30 on Thursday, Feb 28th is the best I can do. It's only 1 hour difference than what I currently have.

Will that work out better?

Thursday nights I go to bed early and Fridays I'm not home......if it's meant to be it's meant to be. I just want to have flexibility with my roster after the fact.

and quite honestly unless there is money involved I'm not investing too much time into this.

I joined and also suggested some changes to the rosters and stat columns.

basically I'm suggesting these things to allow for a more even distribution of talent (or at least a deeper free agent pool) and to increase the importance of strategy over just grabbing blindly for big names and gunning it out in only four or five stat columns. any feedback would be more than welcome.

just some suggestions based on my experience with fantasy sports in general and fantasy baseball in particular. it annoys me when there's a team that can't compete because there aren't any decent free agents left, while top-tier players go unused on one guy's bench just because he doesn't want another guy to have them. it also annoys me when people build their entire team around nothing but homers, rbi, wins and saves - there are a lot of ballclubs with players who may lead those columns as individuals but those teams still don't end up winning it all. just some thoughts.

I'll take a look at your suggestions Saturday.

I copied the roster spots and stat categories from another league I'm in, and man that league is way deep, man. Far out stuff.

The Yahoo defaults settings are a lot easier for me to understand. We might go that route.

the sammitch default settings are vastly superior to anything else yet devised by lesser individuals.

I dunno if I would change anything at this point. keeping the rosters to twenty and only having eight teams means you still have another team or two worth of good players in free agency, so if someone didn't draft well they still have a shot.

I just think my having those two will kill a certain owner. Which is reason enough to stand pat. I'm happy to have Fukudome - I think he'll do well.
