Dave's wife will be giving birth in a few days . Dave may not have a name picked out. We should help Dave by suggesting names for the kid
The only good choice for a name is Lothar. It's a great name for a boy or a girl.

Whadya say, dave, will you namehim or her Lothar?

By the way, she's a girl.

So I'm not sure "The Hulk" would work.
Posted By: Animalman Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 4:09 AM
Hulkess

URG is far too manly a name, so it of course will not work.

You know, Jod doesn't sound so bad....
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 4:14 AM

Posted By: ZOD Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 7:07 AM
Zod demands you call your child Jod! Jod is a name very dear to Zod and Zod would love that one of his greatest ememies is mock day in and day out with a daughter engraved with the name of ZOD! Now kneel!
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 7:19 AM
How about Zoe? That's close to Zod.

Its not the name we have picked, but its close to Zod.
Posted By: ZOD Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 8:31 AM
Zod demands Jod! JOD, JOD, JOD! [biiiig grin]
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-09-26 9:02 AM
To name the baby after you we'd have to call her "Plod".

Or perhaps "Sod".
I'll spare you the inadecuate dirty joke.

Que?

Alright I'm out of here. Back next week with news.
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-10-02 10:11 AM
This e-mail went out on Monday night:

quote:

We're very happy to announce the arrival of our little girl, Imogen
Solbritt Stewart, born 2.805 kg and 46 cm in length at 12.57pm Hong Kong
time today.

"Imogen" comes from Shakespeare's play Cymbelline, and is derived from the
word "imagination". "Imi" (the shortened version) incidentally means
"meaning" in Japanese, which is very appropriate as she has brought much
meaning to our lives. "Solbritt" is both her mum's and her grandmother's
names, and is Swedish for "sun-bright".

Imie is extremely cute, with blonde hair, a button nose, fair skin and
blue-ish eyes. She very much enjoys cuddles and seems to like the "The
Teddy Bears' Picnic" song, even when sung off-key by her dad.

Maria is full of smiles and glowing with health, and is as beautiful as
her daughter. She did a wonderful job today.

David is very happy.

Both Imie and her mum are staying at Matilda International Hospital until
this Saturday. Those of you in Hong Kong are very welcome to visit.

Anyone wants to help me change pooey nappies, let me know.
[cool] Congrats Mr.Dave

Wow,imagine people like us going to the hospital to see Dave and his wife. Dave would regret the day he met us.
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-10-02 10:45 AM
I'm safe because I know none of you are in HK. [wink]

Thanks, man.

Congrats!!! [biiiig grin]

impossible.

since signing the cuddle-doctine during the late 80s, hong kong has shown over and over their resistance to even gentle hugging, much less "cuddling"

msnbc revisited a 30-year-old study on november 3rd of 1998 about the percentage of cuddly children born in that region. in 1968, only 25% of the children born there were cuddly. but the time 1998 came around, that number was reduced to less than 1%, with scientists and researches indicating by november of last year, there would be no cuddling in hong kong (thus necessitating the above-mentioned doctrine signing a dozen years prior).

quote:
and seems to like the "The Teddy Bears' Picnic" song, even when sung off-key by her dad.
how blindly patriotic of you.

followers of both major "wings" of political views would be able to see that this is an obvious ploy. to devote yourself to such a terrorist-resembling life, all while proclaiming to "sing off key" is horrifying.

the teddy bears, themselves, would be ashamed of your actions, and i dont mind letting you know. i would have hoped at this point in your life, you'd be able to succesfully conclude such songs, especially when preformed off-key, are an insult to the basic principals of freedom and western civilization. how unfortunate i was wrong.

quote:
"Solbritt" is both her mum's and her grandmother's

i notice you completely disregarded any of the naming contributiongs provided above, in favor of a swedish nominclature. and yet, you repeatedly try to state that you have no such inclination of peace and would rather form a pre-emptive strike against the middle east. obviously not.

were you truly a war supporter, surely "zod" would have been the likely choice -- yet you display your true colors, siding with that of a notoriously nuetral country, certainly not in favor of de-throning saddam. for shame.

quote:
David is very happy.
how anti-semitestly apparent [yuh huh]

KUDOS DAVE!
Please send the nappies to DC Comics in care of Rob Kamphausen.
Posted By: First Amongst Daves Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2002-10-03 3:06 AM
Rob - well done. Very clever. But surely you would know that the study in Hong Kong on the incidences of cuddling is plagued by rogue statistics, throwing doubt upon the ultimate conclusions presented in the research.

Butter & Kimi - thanks! The name was always the favourite, but we were under some family pressure for "Isabella" (how I can be under family pressure when I'm on another continent is beyond me but anyway) so I needed to explain what it meant.

Urg - we moved to a bigger cave a few months back.

Franta - I'll start stockpiling them. What's the address?

Posted By: Captain Cranky Re: Let's help Dave name his kid. - 2004-06-17 4:23 PM
Food mames are very popular. name her "Apple" or "Orangello" or "Lemongello". The last 2 are real names of kids in the Chicago area, their mom had jello for dessert.

I know a Dr. Barr who named his kids "Hershell" and "Candace"..........................yes, Hershey Barr and Candy Barr. true story!

Please don't stick the kid with "Jackie" for males or females. Jackie Stewart, with the name of a retired jerk race car driver the kid would never live it down.....
