SUPERMAN #674
Written by Kury Busiek
Art and cover by Renato Guedes & José Wilson Magalhaés

It's a time of new beginnings for Superman as art sensation Renato Guedes joins the team! Plus, the superhuman mastermind Paragon is loose in Metropolis, Clark and Lois are hunting for a new place to live after the events of "Insect Queen," and worse, they've got relatives coming to visit - namely, a certain blonde cousin of Lois's from Smallville. It all sets the stage for a major new addition to the cast in next month's anniversary issue!

Warning, Spoiler:
Can you say "Chloe Sullivan"? We thought you could...

more interesting is Busiek's revival of Paragon, a villain he created for a JLA fill-in issue back in the early eighties.

i don't get the reference. but back in 2002 there was a lot of buzz about adding Chloe and Smallville was at the height of its popularity. now everyone's kind of lost interest in the show and the character.

I want my Morgan Edge!

At least Morrie brought back Steve Lombard.

Typical DC: revamping their characters to match a TV show or movie months or years after the show or movie was popular.

This has been going on since at least the 1970s. I remember when DC revamped Shazam to be more like the TV show and set Wonder Woman back in the 1940s to mirror the Lynda Carter TV show. Right afterwards, however, CBS cancelled Shazam and the producers of Wonder Woman decided to reboot the show to be set in present day.

Then there was the time they started drawing Lois Lane to look more like Margot Kidder (right before Superman III came out and Kidder was out as Lois).

Or the time they updated Batman's costume to look more like the Keaton/Burton version (three years after that movie came out).

Expect, ten years from now, to see Batman being trained by Ras Al Ghul and the Joker a guy who wears makeup instead of having white skin.
So, is Chloe in the comic?
No, they aborted that storyline.
you know if they were going to add chlois.. they should have done so with superman birthright.
Or not at all, given that Chloe, outside of the TV show, is a flawed concept.

The original purpose of Chloe was, in the context of "Smallville," to have that "intrepid girl reporter" character, a role that Lois is supposed to fill in the "regular" comic books. She was supposed to be a foreshadowing, if you will of the type of girl that Clark might fall for when he finally got to Metropolis. Once you get to Metropolis, Chloe's function is better served by Lois.

To be candid, if DC thinks that Superman needs an "intrepid female reporter snooping around" then that's really just an indication that they should pull a Quesada and reboot the marriage so that Lois can fulfill the role she was created for.

Or, better yet, just give us an ongoing, Morrie-written, All-Star Superman book.

I don't think there's any doubt that Lois was added to Smallville precisely to give fanboy nerds something to jerk off to..
