Joe Biden adviser says vice president is ‘90% in’ for 2016 run, as party boss says she’d welcome veep into race: Speculation over a potential Biden 2016 effort has ramped up after a New York Times report claimed that Biden’s son, while on his death bed, begged his father to run for President.

I think Biden would be harder for the GOP to beat than Hillary, quite frankly.

Yeah, he's a goof, but he's a sort of likeable goof. And likability counts for a lot in a presidential election. Low information voters often vote for the guy they'd most like to have a beer with.

And if he gets the nominations the media will portray his gaffes as just "good old, plain spoken, Joe."

Could it be Biden's time at long last?

I really doubt he would have much of a chance. His likability would go down once the attacks were aimed at him. While the press has concentrated on Clinton she still remains strong and durable. She is the one your party will have the toughest time going up against.

I seem to recall you saying basically the same things about Obama 8 years ago.

I, for one, am looking forward to the months of MEM berating the other Dem contenders for their underhanded tactics against Hillary and how he wouldn't vote for them in the primary to only, once again, become a true party adherent for whoever winds up with the nomination over her.

My favorite of those was when he accused Obama of being a closeted gay drug addict.

Biden has consistently polled as a popular Democrat contender for 2016, prior to now. Although that's only because of his name recognition as Vice President.

If Biden's Bunker-esque gaffes and other idiotic remarks were given extensive coverage by the mainstream (i.e., liberal) media, Biden would quickly become unelectable. Certainly if Biden were a GOP candidate, that would have happened a long time ago.

Biden vs. Trump! Think of the entertainment!

They both have a Bunker-esque quality.

It would be fun to watch. But I think Trump would clean Biden's clock.

I disagree. They're both crazy but old Joe has a twinkle in eye that says he's in on the joke.

Trump is just a mean, vain, SOB

Evidence for the prosecution, counsel:

BIDEN: "They're going to put y'all back in chains..."

I'm not seeing the playful twinkle in Biden's eye as he stokes black fear that Romney/Ryan in 2012 would resurrect black slavery in America.

Another exhibit is the full Biden/Ryan vice presidential debate, where Biden was a complete jerk. I find it hard to believe that even Democrats voted for Biden after that shameful display.

Biden buzz grows as vice president meets with Elizabeth Warren in D.C.

Obviously if Biden runs, he wants her endorsement. But there are some speculating he already offered Warren to run as his V.P.

 Quote:
Obama has said Hillary Clinton would make an "excellent president," but when the issue came up during Monday's press briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest praised Biden as well. He noted that Obama has called making Biden his VP "the smartest decision that he has ever made in politics," adding, "there is no one in American politics today who has a better understanding of exactly what is required to mount a successful national presidential campaign" than Biden.

As for the Clinton campaign, they're taking these speculative developments in stride. When asked about the possibility that Biden will enter the race, John Podesta, chairman of Clinton's presidential campaign, said, "Am I nervous? No." He explained, "I've worked closely with the vice president since I started on Capitol Hill in 1979. We all like him. It's his decision to make about whether he's going to get in. But I'm convinced that we have a strong campaign — that she's the right candidate."

We support Hillary.
But hey, we love Biden, and he'd be a great backup plan if/when Hillary tanks.

It's pretty obvious that he's going to run. I don't think it will be successful as his negatives are sure to drop from where he's at now.

Biden hears Labor Day cheers: 'Run, Joe, run': Beaming, and looking more joyful in public than at any time since the tragic death of his son Beau in May, the 72-year-old's energetic trek through streets lined with well wishers, who seemed delighted to see him, did nothing to quell speculation that he may jump into the Democratic presidential race.

Biden reportedly shared details on dying son’s wish he run for president

Published October 06, 2015
·FoxNews.com

Vice President Joe Biden reportedly was the one who during an interview shared details about his son Beau's dying wish that he take one more run at the White House, telling his father "that the country would be better off with Biden values."

Politico, citing "multiple sources," reported Tuesday that the vice president was in fact the source of the intimate details in an Aug. 1 New York Times column by Maureen Dowd that effectively kicked off the now-frenzied speculation about Biden's 2016 plans.

In the column, Dowd described an emotional scene where a dying Beau Biden spoke to his father for one of the last times.

"He tried to make his father promise to run, arguing that the White House should not revert to the Clintons and that the country would be better off with Biden values," the article said.

According to Politico, the scene was relayed by Biden himself.

The vice president's office, though, pushed back strongly on the report.

I kind of wondered when I first read about that dying wish if it had been coming from Biden. I suspect this breaking out will push up his announcement.

Biden announced on Wednesday he will not run.

And in less than 5 days, other Democrats and the mainstream media have circled the wagons around Hillary Clinton.

CNN did a decent job of explaining his sudden announcement, and what it means for the Democrat primary field.

Although that pretty much qualifies for G-man's "News of the Obvious" topic.
