It's official. Byrne will doing a new "old" Doom Patrol series. "Old" in that it will feature the 1960s team, all original members. Yep, Byrne will be retconning Rita's survival of the fateful explosion in DP 121.

On his own site, he's consolidating all the DP threads into one, and he's showing pencils of upcoming JLA issues featuring the DP.

Yeah, that's the only reason I wanna check out his JLA stuff. Love me some Doom Patrol.

I've read it contradicts the team's continuity. That means it will suck.

Oh..Mxy. Many teams were never given a post-Crisis reboot and DC retrofit them into the new continuity. DC screwed up then and they are trying to fix it now. I don't see a problem with starting over rather than trying to work everything in.

If Wonder Woman and Superman were reborn at the time of Legends..why shouldn't the Teen titans or Doom Patrol. Dc made the mistake of trying to retrofit people like nightwing post crisis and that has never set well with me. So they tried to cheat and screwed everything up.

They need to pull the plug and start over again and do it right this time by restarting everything. Leave the WWII heroes in that era...but certainly they shouldn't be as young as they are now. Everyone else should be considered ne or current. Why was Hal 40'ish post-crisis..that made no sense.

I was being sarcastic. I judge comics by how good they are, not by how they fit into continuity.

God, I thought MOTA was converting you. Sarcasm is a lost artform.

If Mike Allred was doing it, I'd buy it. The name "Byrne" doesn't sell things to me.

Pimping my site, again.

I dunno.

This really seems like a project no one demanded, except Byrne himself.

The corpse of the last incarnation of DP is barely cold yet, and here is another "revamp".

I became a DP fan during the Morrison run, and I really dug the Arcudi series, so a silver-age revamp of it seems just simply mediocre to me.

I like the classic characters (though not the horrible villains), as well as the Morrison/Case stuff. The Arcudi stuff wasn't Doom Patrol to me. It seemed like a poor attempt to jump on the manga trend, much like Marvel's Tsunami line.

John Byrne still does comics?!?!?!

Wow...

I can see the cover blurb now..."Because somebody somewhere demanded it!!!"

Ah well...

Twelve issues, tops. And then Mike Carlin gets fired...

Get the fuck out!
