Even though he's been locked in for a few weeks, it finallly broke over at Latino Review that 20th Century Fox and Marvel are going with "Barbershop" & "Taxi" director Tim Story to helm the superhero movie based on the comic "The Fantastic Four".

The choice has admittedly raised a few eyebrows, mostly over the fact that a director so notable for lower-budget comedy has been picked to take on the mega-FX filled project which is seen as Fox's tentpole pic next Summer (short of "Star Wars" of course).

Filming begins in August, whilst TV's The Shield star Michael Chiklis is apparently up for the role of Benjamin Grimm (The Thing) and Tim Robbins is being eyed to play Dr. Doom.

Farscape and Earthsea
Quote:

After months of unofficial gossip, dealing with some of the bitchiest and most unprofessional publicists I've ever dealt with, and feeding on tiny morsels of set reports, Sci-Fi has now finally come clean. Today the cable network officially announced it will be bringing back "Farscape" with an all-new miniseries - called "Farscape: Peacekeeper War" - slated to air in the fourth quarter of this year.

The four-hour miniseries picks up where the fourth season cliffhanger series finale left off and will reunite John Crichton (Ben Browder), Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) and the rest of the Moya crew. "Farscape" creator Rockne O'Bannon and executive producer David Kemper wrote the miniseries, which was directed by Brian Henson.

Also today, the channel has announced that Shawn Ashmore ("X-Men"), Danny Glover ("Lethal Weapon") and Kristin Kreuk (TV's "Smallville") will join Isabella Rossellini in the epic fantasy mini-series "Earthsea", based on Ursula K. Le Guin's award-winning novels. The production will air sometime in December with Rob Lieberman ("The Dead Zone", "Strong Medicine") directing.

The epic follows the adventures of a Ged (Ashmore), a reckless youth destined to become the greatest sorcerer that the mystical land of Earthsea has ever known. When Ged discovers that he possesses infinite magical powers, he seeks to master the ancient arts with the help of the legendary wizard Ogion (Glover). As he battles unimaginable evils, Ged finds an ally in Tenar (Kreuk), the vibrant and devout pupil to High Priestess Thar (Rossellini).

QT, 007, and Brosnan's doubts
Quote:

Sci-Fi Wire continues its big scoopage today, the news service talked with famed Director Quentin Tarantino who revealed he has talked to Pierce Brosnan about the idea of adapting the first ever James Bond novel "Casino Royale" published in 1952 as Brosnan's fifth and final film in the series.

The plan he had was the offer of a low budget and Brosnan's return which would hopefully convince the producers to approve a one-time-only return to the character-driven spy plots of the first several 007 films: "Wouldn't it be great to have a James Bond movie that didn't cost $115 million and only cost $40 million or something like that? You know it's going to make its money back, and we [would] all do good. Maybe we win the critics this time, then you're back in business the way you were before".

The director noted however that the difficulty would be to convince producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli to diverge from the current formula of expensive action set pieces - and felt there was only "a thin chance" that he would win the project.

Tarantino's acting boy and "Die Another Day" cameo boy Michael Madsen spoke with The Toronto Sun about the Bond series and seems to indicate Pierce's heart just ain't in it - "Pierce lives right down the beach from me. Our kids play together," Madsen said. "And he told me he doesn't want to do another one. I also heard that they bought him out. I really don't know but an impasse is an impasse". Madsen said he was told that Brosnan will be replaced with an Australian, although he did not know who.

Good God Almighty! Not another one!

Dungeons & Dragons 2: "Studio Hamburg's international production arm WorldWide Pictures (WWP) is partnering with Joel Silver's Silver Pictures on the sequel. Warner Bros. has picked up "Dungeons and Dragons 2" for distribution Stateside and in selected international territories. Gerry Lively is helming the pic, which is to be shot in Europe this year..."

Bale as Bruce

The Z Review has managed to land the first world exclusive pics of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in the currently filming "Batman Begins". The production was down in London's Canary Wharf filming at a restaurant last week for a scene with Bruce doing his true playboy thing - showing up with two gorgeous babes. Just Click Here.

Y'know, I hate what Bond movies have become. The last few have just-plain-sucked. I'd actually be up for seeing this. I like the Q, and I'd pay money to see Brosnan say any of those Tarantino lines...

Yes. It sucked. Badly. This bullet, I will dodge.

I dunno, on paper it does look nice, but I just have images of M saying to 007:

"Do you see a sign in the front of my house that says 'dead nigger storage'???"

I would love to see a character driven Bond film. And Brosnan could easily pull it off. What would make it sweeter is if Connery was brought in, maybe as M?

Would like to see a serious adaptation of Casino Royale.

Though the original, in it's own way, is pretty good (ie, funny).
