Hey I've been going to different comics boards like the geek I am and have been noticing a trend of Joe Quesada haters. I've always liked the guy. At first for his amazing artwork and later to find about his writing. Gave him props when he got the gig for Marvel's editor in chief. Apparently folks seem to hate what he's done to Marvel. Granted I've been more of a DC guy the past 5 years or so but I pick up the occasional Marvel book.

You guys Quesada haters? If so, why?

More of a Jemas hater, actually. That guy did more to damage Marvel's image with his public arguments with fans, retailers, and creators than anything else I know of recently.

The guy frequently admitted that he didn't even know anything about comics, how the industry worked, or even how to read them (left to right, panel to panel, it ain't that hard). So, how are you gonna hire a guy like that to run a comic company?

The guy did have some valid criticisms of comics, and might even have had some decent ideas, but all that is pretty much lost in him being an overbearing, ignorant, ass.

Quesada. . .Quesada owes me money for that crap Devin Grayson Ghost Rider series.

Queseda was actually a fan favorite for a while, but I think some of the editorial decisions he's made in the last few years rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. Even if Jemas was the ringleader, his part in the U-DECIDE debacle hurt his credibility. I also remember seeing an article on how he got in a shouting match with Grant Morrison at some comic convention.

Alan Moore was apparently angry him over something involving the Captain Britain TPB publishing regiment, but I believe he apologized for that, saying it was a mistake, and it's no longer an issue.

Quesada's ok. Never a big fan of his art or anything.

Jemas was a cool guy on his message board. He's pretty inept otherwise. EPIC was the best thing he ever came up with, until it crashed and burned.

Together, they did some great stuff for Marvel when it was in the shitter. Suddenly Daredevil wasn't the only Marvel comic worth reading.

As an artist, Quesada is tops in his field. As a person, I think he's a blowhard and a moron, especially since he let Jemas turn Marvel into his personal brand of toilet paper.

He should stick to the drawing board.

Well, you know how he did things?

That's why we hate him.

And you know how it's weird that almost the entire internet hates him?

We started that.

Moore's been pissed at Marvel ever since the whole Marvelman/Miracleman fiasco. And he's pissed at DC. And at WildStorm. He's pissed at everyone. He isn't happy unless he's pissed.

Uh....the American meaning of the word. Not the British defininition.

As an artist and editor, I like Quesada just fine. As human being, he is an uber-ass. And I'll say right now: If Jemas had just learned to keep his mouth shut, Marvel would be sittin' pretty right now, not headed back to the crapper like before.

I'd be pissed too if they got Keanu "Woh" Reeves to be Constantine!

It was a nice idea, but the way he ran it didn't give me the impression he really thought it was going to do anything.

Did you hear Micah Wright's account of what the EPIC studio looked like? Three guys sitting around reading through thousands of proposals, looking very bored.

I half-wonder if part of Moore's problem isn't the copious amount of pot he is said to smoke every day. From what I hear, he's pretty much baked every day...and that could make you quite paranoid.

Heh. You can't expect a big evil corporation to put their trust into people they've never heard of... quite unfortunate.

I await the day Moore announces that, after FROM HELL, LXG, and CONSTANTINE, he is building a space ark to leave this world for another that will treat his properties with more reverence...
