All About the Scarecrow
A new pic causes a stir.

October 07, 2004 - Mukmouth has posted a picture of what they claim is the first look at Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow in Batman Begins. Their scooper claims "to be currently working on an official 'Art of...' book for Batman Begins, and the image just happens to be some concept art for the Scarecrow."

Batman-on-Film received word from one of their sources, however, who calls the Mukmouth image "way off. I have seen the real deal, it looks as if Leatherface made his mask out of burlap material, sewn up Burton-Catwoman-like, with slits for the eyes and a sewn up slit for the mouth. It is very gruesome and dark."

BoF also reports that Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face, might be the villain of the next Batman sequel rather than The Joker. The site claims to know which actor is up for the role but can't reveal it yet.

Finally, IESB has posted a video interview with Christian Bale wherein he briefly discusses his role as The Dark Knight.

It looks like the love child of the flukeworm monster from X-Files and Hannibal Lector.

It kind of looks like the Sandman's original gas-mask, from 1939-41, except much more grisly.

I think it would be so cool if Robert Englund played the part of the Scarecrow.

Oh, my God...

That's absolutely pathetic! It's almost as bad as the Batsuit and Batmobile! Is WB TRYING to embarrass themselves with this movie?

King Krypton just wants to hate this movie, that's all there is to that. Everything I've seen so far looks pretty damn good. Even this concept art of the Scarecrow looks nice. At least the mouth piece would help explain why people can hear him.

The gas-mask makes sense, too. I just wish he didn't remind me of the Wesley Dodds Sandman as much as he does in that pic.

Agreed on both accounts. Kingy appears to be the next Man of the Atom. Maybe he'll get Chris Nolan to publically tell him to fuck off.

Ah, yes! I know what the Scarecrow here reminds me of:

Good call. I didn't even think about a gas mask. I'm sure ole Dr. Crane doesn't want a dose of his own fear gas.

When it comes down to their preconceived notions of characters and such, they've always seemed like two peas in a pod to me. At least KK has a sense of decorum and respect.

i still prefer the later scarecrow design from BTAS -- that of the hanged corpse. truly disturbing, and the only scarecrow that could conceivably scare someone.

however, even without a more traditionalist point of view, i dig the concept. i think its pretty damn creepy.

and, notably, the gas mask (which of course makes sense) boldly resembles "the scream"

well done.

This version of the Scarecrow is acceptable...and may I add it's about time he made in as a major villain in a Batman film! Now if Crazy Quilt can be in the sequel life will be good!

If Crazy Quilt teamed up with Kite-Man, it would be a fanboy's Wonderland!
