The word "hero" often is used far too often, and never does that become more apparent than in times of war. However, I feel no shame in saying that Christopher Reeve was a hero to me. On and off the screen he personified hope and courage.

In my dreams, I fly, like him.

When Superman opened in the UK, I was only 5 years old. I remember I would go to work with my father, not that I did anything at that age but it was more for to keep my dad company!

One night, instead of going to work, we went to see Superman - it was the first time I had ever been to a Movie Theatre! I loved it!

My favourite scene in any of the Superman films has to be in Superman 2! I had forgotten about it until a thread I saw here about favourite scenes in movies. Rufie posted one of his was when Superman was taking on the renegades at the end of the film. Zod threatens a bus full of people and Superman says as his voice cracks - The people......., Now that was great acting to me!

What gave you that idea?

I don't see anything funny or mocking about them. They're just fan-made tributes I found at SHH, Superman Homepage, and the Superman-V site. I think the artists were trying to pay him honor, not to make fun of his death.

IMO, there will never be a Superman movie better than the first one. I still say it's the best comic book movie ever, because it's the measuring stick all comic movies are measured against. And Christoper Reeves simply MADE that movie. No one will ever capture the role like he did. And his acting talents went beyond the role of the Man of Steel as well. I enjoyed Somewhere In Time as well as his remake of Rear Window.

Miss him already.

Watched Superman as soon as I got home last night. Will try and watch 2 sometime this week.

Still bummed out this morning.

I’m not religious, but it’s times like these I hope there is an afterlife, it wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

Since I was home from work yesterday I didn't listen to the radio in the morning like I normally do, but this morning I did and they mentioned his passing. I was laying in bed thinking it didn't seem real, that he's really gone.

I heard on BBC news at six. It ripped kinda a whole, y'know? I mean, for me he was the closest thing we ever came to a real superman. And, even in a wheelchair he could act lesser actors off the screen, just look at him on Smallville.

My opinion: If we wish to discuss this site, it should be done in another thread.

Agreed. Batwoman, please make another thread if you want to discuss this site. Either here in media or the Things on the Net forum because I think this thread is more a way posters here to discuss their reactions to this occurence.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you guys. I didn't post that link to discuss it here, I posted it with the thought that someone might send that moron an email. I should have specified that, but was rushing to finish things up so I could get out of work.

Believe me, I have no desire to discuss that moron's page, plenty of people that wrote in to him said a lot, but somehow I thought this was a job for the NBZ.

When that man died his soul went STRAIGHT to Heaven. On this I would stake my life.

That being said:

a) He REALLY CAN FLY now.

and

b) he's running on legs so strong he could race Michael the Archangel.

The world is a better place because of him.

The Good news is you can walk in Heaven the bad news is Euro Jesus requires you spend eternity wearing the get-up.

From the Palm Beach Post, Tuesday October 12th, 2004:

Quote:

Marilyn Murray Willison, a writer who lives in West Palm Beach, interviewed Christopher Reeve in Palm Beach in January. On Monday she said:

"In Reeve's presence, listening to his measured voice and seeing the determination in his oh-so-blue eyes, I became more than just an admirer, more than just a fan. I became an ardent believer that with his help, resources and fervor, my wheelchair would soon become part of my past. For those of us in wheelchairs (I have multiple sclerosis), Reeve embodied our belief in a better tomorrow. He was our inspiring super man. Today, my tears of sorrow simply will not stop. But I feel lucky, because I had the chance to touch the hand of my hero and say in person, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you, Christopher Reeve."
