This was the year I joined the 21st century and got me a PS2

The best games I've played for it, in my opinion are:

Champions of Norrath
Indiana Jones & The Emperor's Tomb
Onimusha: Warlords
Rise To Honor

Got around to it did you? What'd you think of the ending this time?

Personally, I loved it.

I discussed it in pretty good length in my LJ account(which I imagine you can find, now). I'll post it here.

Quote:

MGS3 was sort of a completists' sequel(or, prequel, technically). It ties in a lot of the backhistory explored in past games. The difference in graphics quality between this game and Sons of Liberty(MGS2) wasn't as large as the difference between MGS2 and Shadow Moses Incident(MGS), and certainly not as large as the difference between MGS and the old Metal Gear games(which was revolutionary, to say the least). However, the game itself had a lot of new additions to gameplay that gave it even more of an interactive feel. For example, Snake, being alone in a jungle, must hunt for his own food, replenishing his stamina. Snake also manually heals his wounds, which can involve applying ointment to burns, removing bullets, and even resetting broken bones. It can get tedious at times, but it definitely gives you as realistic an experience as ever provided by a franchise that, perhaps, pioneered video game realism.

There was one thing that kind of irked me about MGS3. In the first Metal Gear Solid game, for playstation, the villains were powerful, being experts in their respective fields, but not super-powered. The second Metal Gear Solid game, for PS2, was somewhat similar, with the exception of Vamp(who, as his name might suggest, was a vampire). This Metal Gear Solid game, however, presents a group of villains who can only be described as superhuman(superhumans with silly names, really). Among them, a guy who has an empthatic link with bees and can turn them into weapons(no, literally, a bunch of bees come together forming a gun-like shape, and then a gun appears, it's silly), a sniper that has a supernatural ability to blend into his environment, a dead soldier with the ability to raise the dead to attack you(if you use your tranquilizer gun to take out bad guys he becomes the easiest boss in history), and, best of all, Colonel Volgin, who can control lightning. In case you didn't know, this game's story takes place over 40 years ago.

Overall, however, I enjoyed it tremendously. One of the biggest criticisms of the last game was the ending, which was completely nonsensical and bizarre. Not so here. You actually FEEL like something ended, there was a finality to it. A+, 5 stars, three thumbs up, etc etc.

It was kind of a downer, yeah, but I think I was so happy to have finally finished it(honestly, the part where you're driving away from the tank felt like forever) I didn't really care much.

X-Men Legends was great!! At first I hated it. Another "hack & slash" game. Then I couldn't stop playing it. I was so f'ing hooked. The Navy ship level was kind of lame but over all this is a really solid game. The end of the game rocks. When you win the last battle you feel like you really did something. Very tough...

ESPN 2k5
Ghost Recon 2
Halo 2
Battlefront (I still play the hell out of this game)
Mechassault 2 (it'll be on my 2005 list)
Full Spectrum Warrior (this is a really cool game)

To get the true experience outta X-Men Legends was to play with a friend. Even better if you can manage to get 4 people simultaneously wrecking havoc with the X-Men. As soon as the game was done all I wanted was more.

Many, many great games...my faves of 2004 are..

Knights of The Old Republic II
Star Wars Battlefront
Star Wars: Jedi Academy
Fable
X-Men Legends
DOA: Ultimate

I actually got the first new Prince of Persia in 2004 and that was really good too.

Leisure Suit Larry was an amusing few hours of play..pretty funny dialogue, worth 20 bucks, but not 50.

Leisure Suit Larry was awesome. I'm also digging Deus Ex: Invisible War. I thought it would suck when I bought it, even with the X-Box magazine 9.1 rating, but I've been pleasently suprised at how fun it is.

yeah, forgot about Deus Ex: Invisible War, cool game

and obviously also Jedi Academy.

Though, I'm confused, did Jedi Outcast come out in 03 or 04? if it's 04 it takes precedence over Academy!

1. Half-Life 2
2. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
3. GTA: San Andreas
4. BloodRayne 2
5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
6. Full Spectrum Warrior
7. Rome Total War
8. Knights of the Old Republic 2
9. The Sims 2
10. Sould Calibur 2

And I hated X-Men legends. Was just another licensed bash and slash borefest if you ask me.

Didn't IW come out in 2003?

It was okay but I was a dissapointment since the first Deus Ex is one of my favorite games of all time.

Haven't tried the new LLL yet. I remember playing it as a kid.

If our standards were down to that lemme add the original Half-Life, Doom 1, Team Fortress Classic, Metal Gear Solid 1, Super Mario Bros, Bloodrayne, Mortal Kombat I II, and III, Pong, Pac-Man, Def-Con, Starcraft, Warcraft, Deus Ex, Age of Empires 1&2 , and Max Payne 1&2.

All of which I've payed this year and many which I still play from time to time.
