I generally just use insidepulse. before that, 411 (but all the good writers went over to ip). and before that, the late, lamented scoops, where I (and many others) enjoyed Chris Hyatte's Mopups.
Hyatte was at both 411 and ip, but seems to have gone into seclusion again. at ip, I generally read Eric S. (my current favorite columnist), Scott Keith, Grut, and Lain Burnside. then I sift through what else might be around.
while on the subject, Scoop This! used to be one of the funniest damn things on the net.
