this was one of the movies i could not wait to leave. This list also included: Hell boy, Spiderman 1 and 2, Sin City, and X men 2. I think i must stay away from comic book movies!!!

I would be interested in hearing how you could not like these movies. Spidey 1, I'll give you. Way, way too heavy-handed and overstated. And. even Hellboy is an acquired taste. But, X2? Batman Begins? Sin City? What's not to like?
And, as a challenge, I dare you to explain it without falling back on the tired "I'm a girl" excuse.

a lil background info: - though she enjoyed the original xmen film, she fell asleep through x2.
- she hated both spider-man movies, but... i'd agree with her on both counts (tho not as extreme). she really enjoyed the preview trailers for spider-man 2, but felt horribly deceived while sitting through the actual movie.
- she didn't like the first 4 batman movies.
- she hated sin city and couldn't wait to leave. i can see her not-comic-fan point here, as that movie was a comic book. if i weren't sucha geek fan, i woulda agreed --as much as i enjoyed it, parts clearly didn't translate well to the big screen at all, particularly the dialog.
- she loved the BTAS cartoon, particularly harley. she also loves smallville, but more for the WB elements and less for the comic book elements.
even knowing all this, i honestly thought she'd love, or at least really enjoy, batman begins. i was very, very wrong. i know she's very actor-oriented in her movie opinions. for example, there were already two strikes on this film because she doesn't like christian bale and she hates gary oldman. but she seemed to overall hate everything about the film, from storyline to characters (prefering a more colorful villain, like the joker, instead of the "plain clothed" ra's)

Well, I think that pretty much sums it up, then. And, while I agree that BTAS was the shiznit, Batman Begins rocked for exactly the same reason: mood.

I'm a chick and I love comics. Honestly, I've never heard this excuse - the only thing I can think of is that women may see comics as geared towards little boys bc. of T&A shots. My wife doesnt like comic books (other than some of the Gaiman Sandman stuff) but loved both Spider-man films and Sin City. In fact, she was of the opinion that Sin City was the way to do a Batman film "right," having pretty much fallen asleep during "Begins."
So who knows...
