Years back my writing class viewed the original The Producers with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel. The tale of two down on their luck scam artists making it big with a controversial flop has become one of my favorite movies. Since then I bought to the musical's album and listen to it almost daily. So I'm sure I'll love this.

I like Will Farrell but he's got a loooong way to go to beat Kenneth Mars at playing that part.

I've heard the soundtrack and he doesn't even come close. Then again, he sure beats the hell out of the amazing musical talents of Uma Thurman.

I've seen the original film and the stage musical, so I'm looking forward to seeing the new film. This is one of my favorite musicals, so I'm gonna try to get out to see this opening weekend if at all possible...

I'll warn you now Chewy, you will cry when Uma Thurman comes on. Will Farrell might make up for his songs with funny acting, but nothing can save a botched "When You've Got it, Flaunt it."

I find a lot wrong with the previous statement. Mostly the implied ability of Will Farrell to either be funny or act.

I except the will ferrell backlash to be severe. I'm surprised it didn't come after kicking and screaming or bewitched.

Just remember that I saw this all coming back when I first saw anchorman. All he knows how to do is over act.

I'm not trying to doubt Farrell's abilities, but have you seen the show? The man who originally played Farrell's part was Nathan Lane's understudy and a damn good actor. I already know that he can sing better than Farrell, so that's why I said that Farrell's only saving grace can be whether or not he can act/be funny the part.

I think you need to re-read my statement.

I've read it, but rex covered the other part. I figured that you read his post so I didn't restate it. Overacting is Farrell's strong suit. We'll find out if that's a good thing or a bad thing in this movie.
