Neil Gaiman: You may not have liked American Gods, but even though I like its epic nature, I enjoyed his fantasy tales like Stardust and Neverwhere a bit more. Plus, like JM mentioned, Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett) was a darn good read! Also, his collection of short stories - Smoke and Mirrors - is a great, varied read.

Right now I want to read some authors that I've never read before, but I want to get around to reading his short story book someday.

Lewis Carroll: I bought his complete works in my early teens and I still enjoy them to this day. From Through the Looking-Glass to The Hunting of the Snark... and, heck, even Phantasmagoria, no one can craft good fiction mixed with the complete absurdity and nonsense that Carroll can.

I want to read some classic authors like Carroll, but I want to read some more recent stuff for now. Someday I will get to all the "classic" books everyone keeps recommending me.

I will also put more consideration into your choices if you would finish reading Atlas Shrugged.

Looks interesting. I've been wanting to read some history books and didn't know where to start.

she's the best rex.....she will provide an insight no one else can. Most great history professors will recomend her and incorporate her insights into their teachings. The Proud Tower which takes place right before WWI shows you exactly how it happened plus just how rampant anarchasm socialism comunism and fascism were in the USA and why we were able to more or less go in a different direction than many other countries in Europe and the rest of the world.

I got this the other day. I'm only on the second chapter but its very good so far.
