DCD's released 6 Batman Figs with black capes: - "Signature Series" Batman (which was a repaint of Hush Bats). It looked pretty cool, but only hardcore collectors'll shell out $200 for a black Batman fig and 2 resin prototypes.
- The two figs based on Turner's Art ("Identity Crisis" Bats and "The Supergirl from Krypton" Batman.) Both figures were hideous.
- "Public Enemies" Batman. Ed McGuinness' artwork didn't translate well to plastic, as this figure looks so cartoonish it can almost be called Playskool Batman. The lack of posability and short cape didn't help either.
- The Batman that was part of last year's JLA gift set. Looked like Adam West. Disappointing.
- Alex Ross' "Justice" Batman, which has the most detailed sculpt of the bunch. It even comes with a foldable Batarang that can be stored in Batman's Utility belt! But the 7 inch scale is too tall for the (normally) 6 inch scale DCD figs.
Still, I see where you're comin from Rob. It'd be nice to have a well-sculpted, black-caped Batman figure that's in scale with all the others.

The star-covered Troia, bitch-whipped Batman, and Warlord figures are all top notch. Now, let's see if the level of detail transfers to the actual figures sold in stores...

Excellent point, Pro. DCD's been kind of hit-or-miss with their figure quality over the past year or so (Crooked S's on Superman figs...  ). It'll be interesting to see how these hold up.

Yeah. My only beef is when they show this superbly lit, intricate detail on figures......and then when you get them, they're subpar, conveyor-belt-made sticks of plastic. The CRISIS figures were like this.
And WHAT THE FUCK is with some of these DC Direct nowadays being smaller? It's kind of annoying to have various figures seem like teenagers compared to the regular ones...

Size was always an issue!
It never made sense why the Kid Flash figure was taller than some of the adult figures, especially when Wally was said to be shorter than Barry Allen when he replaced him as Flash!

You have no idea! I saw the sculpts based on Jimenez' Wonder Woman and Donna a couple weeks back and was extatic for them.
