Awesome! This brings back memories - I still remember all the anti - Vietnam War protests.

Shit! Yeah. I wasn't old enough to have been there. Get off me.

I think I got them confused (despite the fact they're both in my fucking state) because my mother told me about something similar almost happening at Wright State at almost the same time, while she was a student there.

But yeah. Any kind of hippie massacre would be great - Kent State, Wright State, Altamont, whatever. As maddox says, civil disobedience is still disobedience!

One of frat brothers in college was in ROTC and had a t-shirt that read "Kent State: National Guard, 4, Hippies 0"

Ah, college during the Reagan era...good times...good times...

"9-II was an inside job"

Heh. I love it when the media screws up and accidentally shows what idiots most of these protesters are.

There's more evidence pointing in that direction than any other though. Not saying I'm of that opinion (I really gave up trying to make sense of it all)...but the arguments are there, and they are rather convincing.

No, there isn't:

A lesser-known fact about the 4 students shot at Kent State is that they were trying to burn down the ROTC building.

They weren't innocent peace-love-and-granola hippie protestors, they were radicals, looking for trouble. And they got what they were looking for.

As for these recent protestors to the Iraq war, I doubt they fully understand what's at stake, or have any alternative strategies to offer, other than retreating from Iraq, so millions of democratic Iraqis can be slaughtered by insurrectionists and ethnic death squads, assuring the destruction of democracy in Iraq, creating a hub of terrorism, and very likely de-stabilization that will spread to neigboring nations, and a breeding ground for terrorism that would allow evenits export to the United States.

That's what these dumbasses truly support, if they would bother to to think it through.

Anti-war protesters spray paint Capitol building

Anti-war protesters were allowed to spray paint on part of the west front steps of the United States Capitol building after police were ordered to break their security line by their leadership.

After police ceded the stairs, located on the lower west front of the Capitol, the building was locked down, the source added.

Approximately 300 protesters began to spray paint "anarchist symbols" and phrases such as "Our capitol building" and "you can’t stop us" around the area

Goddamn hippies. We really do need another Kent State.

I remeber watching some American tourists in absolute shock that a protest was held on the stairs of parliment in Ottawa. They couldn't believe that people were allowed to congregate there. It was kinda scary actually...how they were so willing to accept that a public building shouldn't be open to...well, the public.

Of course not. That'd be a huge difference bettween Canadian and American mentalities.

Then that probably explains the difference in how protesters are treated.

That doesn't really make it any better though, does it? If nothing else...that kind of makes the situation look a little worse.
