I tried to fit everything into the subject line...

Anyway, Taker and Batista fought to a draw (?) in their Smackdown cage match...they both exited at the exact same time (yeah, right) so Mark Henry ran down, beat up on Taker, Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase that he beat Kennedy for, then disposed of Taker; he's the new "World Champ".

I guess you can see the farce on Smackdown this Friday.

Ad!

That's why I put "World Championship" in quotes...the whole idea is a joke. Mahon puts his weight behind Cena...RAW gets higher ratings than ECW or Smackdown, and whenever both major belts are on the same card, the RAW championship is always the main event.

Hell, in WrestleMania, the match for the "World Title" was a midcard match.

So yeah, the whole brand thing with multiple championships is a farce.

well obviously, because the WWE championship is Mahon's championship.

the BIG GOLD BELT has the taint of non Mahon wrestlers and promoters on it and is not going to be given preferential treatment.

"brand separation." that's almost as big a joke as WWECW.

It's a bigger farce especially when injuries begin to pile up on Smackdown and forces McMahon into a corner. Booker T, Undertaker, Mr. Kennedy are all out and they've been the major force behind Smackdown. Batista isn't 100%, Mark Henry will never be 100% and who wants a returning Rey Mysterio as a champ?

When is Rob going to get rid of the "sports" part of this forum and just call it "wrestling"?

I think it pretty much guarantees that both the rumours are true.
Kennedy would have won the title if he hadnt injured himself an Vince has lost faith in Batista as champion.

well, rey rey really ain't what he used to be since his knee got fucked up. and after the way they bitched him out last year when he was champ, I really don't think there's much of a compelling argument to put him on top again.

Rey could be paralyzed from the neck down and he'd still work a better match than half the guys Vince is pushing now.

That doesnt matter, the fact that even die hard Mysterio fans hated his run as champ, proves that at the moment putting the belt on him again would do nobody any favours, including Rey!

If his run had been handled better, the fans would have loved it, but he ended up being portrayed as a sympathy case that didnt deserve the title, and nobody wanted to hear about Eddie anymore as everyone agreed with the heel, Chavo, that he was leeching off Eddies memory.

Yeah, he was a shitty champ. If Deaddie wouldn't have, well, died, Mahon never would have put the Big Bogus Gold Belt on Gay Gay.

In other news, how about the return of Mark Henry! First thing he does is attack The Undertaker! The writers brought him back in style!

And Snarf has forgotten that he himself pointed out that at one point, Rey was so hated that Matt Hardy got more votes than him at Cyber Sunday or Taboo Tuesday (I forget which).

I thought it was funny that they didn't want to put Henry against Batista again because they were afraid Batista would get hurt again!

in all honesty, I've been underwhelmed with Rey's entire WWE run.

Surely that fat cunts contract must be up soon.
He signed the same year as Big Show, and for the same length of time.

Please dont tell me they have actually renewed his contact!

It's not because Rey was hated; it's because Matt had a TON of support from the fans.

Do you really think Matt would have got that many votes had Taker, Austin or The Rock been champ at the time?
Even Eddie or Benoit would probably have got more votes.

Yes Matt was riding a popularity wave at the time, but that doesnt detract from the fact that the champion was not as popular as he should have been!

You DO realize that Rey wasn't the champion at the time, right?

I missed out the word "recent".
Does that make it any clearer for you?

Simple fact is that a mid carder was more popular than a main eventer, doesnt matter how talented any of them were.

WWE ruined Reys popularity with the angle, even turning Rey fans against him!

The Taboo Tuesday in question happened well before Rey's Rumble win. So, I'm not sure if your point is that Rey was losing popularity even before his disastrous title run?

Having watched the show, I disagree strongly with that, NOM. I thought it was one of the best matches on rcent TV, and what the hell, Edge deserves the title.

They were co-holders of the Tag Titles together! Granted, Edge is almost as much of a Tag Title whore as Kane is, both having held the titles numerous times with multiple partners. Y'know, I could make a joke about Edge jumping from partner to partner, but, in the interest of couth, I'll refrain.
