Results courtesy of PWTorch (direct link) or to view without pop-ups, check out Neo-Geo Forum: Official WWE Thread #7153 and posts thereafter.

1 -- KANE vs. FINLAY
WINNER: Kane in 10:00. Basic opening match. They created enough external movement to not let the match bog down in the ring. (*1/4)

2 -- UMAGA vs. CARLITO vs. MR. KENNEDY -- IC Title match
WINNER: Umaga in 8:00 to retain the IC Title. Surprising finish - not the winner, but who was pinned. Decent action for eight minutes, but more like a TV match than anything special for PPV. (*1/2)

3 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. CHAVO GUERRERO
WINNER: Rey in 13:00. Good story to the match with Rey overcoming the injury to capture his first win back from injury. Nice finish after teasing the 619 several times. (**3/4)

4 -- DIVAS BATTLE ROYALE -- #1 Contender match to Women's Title
WINNER: Beth Phoenix in 8:00. A bit surprising, but it makes sense if they're transitioning away from Candice vs. Melina. Not exactly a memorable or good battle royale. (3/4*)

5 -- JOHN MORRISON vs. C.M. PUNK -- ECW Title match
WINNER: Morrison in 8:00 to retain the ECW Title. Rushed match with an awkward finish. The least they could do is give the ECW Title match more than 10 minutes since it's the only ECW match on the card. (*)

6 -- KING BOOKER (w/Sharmell) vs. TRIPLE H
WINNER: Hunter in 9:00. Compact match with Booker on his game. Hunter looked sharp in his return. No surprise on the finish, but satisfying for fans awaiting Hunter's return. (*3/4)

7 -- GREAT KHALI (w/Translator) vs. BATISTA -- World Hvt. title match
WINNER: Batista via DQ in 7:00; Khali retains the belt. One decent spot in the entire match with a bogus finish to Smackdown's title match. Why have the belt on Khali if he can't have a competent match without gimmicks and tricks? Weak. (1/4*)

8 -- JOHN CENA vs. RANDY ORTON -- WWE Title match
WINNER: Cena in 22:00 to retain the WWE Title. Finish left a little to be desired, as they went straight to the finish following the big kick out without much of a transition. Orton got away with the multiple headlocks because it's a Cena match. Had this been any other opponent, the crowd would have been doing the wave. Very good drama, as usual for a Cena match. Hard to tell the degree to which the match stood out since the rest of the card was so weak. (***1/2)

Cena could wrestle a pile of dog shit, and PW Torch would give it at least three stars...

So let me get this straight.
Not one single title changed hands!
No tag team titles, womens title, cruiser or US title on the line.
The two returnees got "surprising" wins!
It was a surprise who was pinned in the IC match, so they dont bother telling us who it was!

Boy am I glad I didnt pay to watch that shit!

Summer Slam used to be a major PPV. Sounds like it could have easily been a Raw or Thunder.

The joke is here that Summerslam is one of the PPVs we have to pay for, as, like you said, its considered one of the big ones (the others being the Rumble, WM & Survivor series).

I stopped paying for any last year, and will only watch the freebies these days (which is probably about half the years PPVs as they are slowly making us pay for more and more each year).

By the way, after the cameras went off, fans in the arena started throwing things into the ring at John Cena.

Thanks to PWHeadlines.com reader Dana Rivenburg for sending along the following live report:

Cena (after he won and got booed) went out to the crowd and ripped some kids sign from his hands that said "if cena wins we riot" and cena brought it in the ring, held it up, and then CALLED THE KID OUT!!!!! and called EVERYONE out who was booing him. there was only a select few that were cheering him (me included), and he acknowledged me!!!!! he came to the top rope which was like 50 ft from where we were sitting, and pointed right at me b/c i was the only one in the section bouncing up and down for him!!!!!! He acknowledged all sections of his fans cheering for him and seemed really happy that at least SOME people still like him. OH and then a fan threw a beer bottle into the ring, like inches away from cena, but cena turned his head and i dont even think he saw it. that was just messed up. people take it way too far sometimes, ya know??

How'd the fuck did they get a beer bottle into the arena? Those places usually don't allow glass on the arena floor.

It tends to put you immediately at a disadvantage and IMO is a sign of true weakness.
