A theory is that Libra is Barry and that he's turning into a Villain. What if it's not like that at all? What if, Barry having seen the future, knows the heroes alone can't deal with what's coming, and has decided to instead recruit the villains into one united force, so that when the new forces of Apokalips come, the Heroes and Villains will realise that they have to unite against them(a la the JLU finale)? But the only way he can make that happen is by proving his power? So he gets J'onn to their location, and gets J'onn to read his mind. J'onn realises the plan and that he's a sacrifice that needs to made for it to work, so lets himself get killed. It's a heroic death that's more meaningfull than him just getting murdered, and it gives Barry something to carry on his conscience and make his return more than just the usual happy reunion.
Also, if the villains are on the side of the heroes, and they are what helps turn the tide, then it can still be "the day evil won".

could be. I dont think it will be villans teaming up with heroes though. honestly I dont really care I just dont want the story to suck ass...

And Flash characters have had their fair share of abuse for the past 20 years. I hope Libra gets smacked around like the little pansy he (probably) is. There's got to be a bigger threat. It doesn't seem like many plot threads from Countdown will be spilling over into Final Crisis. That's not the way I saw things going but, given the suckitude that was Countdown, that's a good thing.

Joe Elliot was Gold K'd though.

They (DC PTB, natch) couldn't create the opposite colored (and thus Gold K-reversing) kryptonite?

actually in whatever happned they revealed that the kid had superman's powers and i'm guessing he couldnt have passed them on if he was depowered.

plus he winked... only Sa ever winks.

I figured the baby's powers came from the fact,that while Gold K depowered him,Superman(or Joe) was still a Kryptonian and the baby would have still had Kryptonian DNA,therefore since the baby itself wasn't exposed to Gold K,he would still be able to process the yellow sun radiation like a normal Kryptonian and have super powers,albeit prolly half strength since he's also Lois' child.As for the wink,maybe,maybe not.I tend to think it was just Alan Moore's way of letting us know that "Joe" is Kal.

Huh. I just figured the baby crushing coal to diamonds was a way of letting us know who Joe Elliot was, not that he still had his powers.

Libra was an old JLA villain from the 80s, yes? I didn't read those issues but the name really rings a bell.
