Seriously though, why is everything so political around here now? Sure, I read some of the political stuff here now and then and sometimes throw a thought or two out there, but I've never really been into politics.

the most creative stabs of late feature battles of laughy face versus dots. to kick it up a notch, they've often been stored and repeated in quotes. it's been magical.

now? no. there's too much focus and concern over the loss of being able to tell, or fake, where another poster is currently browsing online to breathe life into anything. honestly, how can i tell a person they are obsessed with me when i can't obsess about them?

Pro got repetitive and boring. So I put him on ignore. It makes the valid points in the threads easier to find. You could do the same thing.

I partly agree.

I often still want to post and have serious discussions here in POLITICS, or have lighter discussions in COMICS, MEDIA, WOMEN and other forums. But the relentless trolling makes me have these discussions elsewhere.
The ONLY time the excesses on this board briefly stopped was when you (G-man) were moderator in POLITICS and actually reigned in the bad behavior to discourage it. Then Pro, Uschi, and all the babies cried to Rob about it, and we see how uncivil Pro and his two current cheerleader lapdogs have become.

I agree that the trolling has not only discouraged new members, but chased away many longtime posters here.

A couple months ago, I told Pro his posts were unworthy of response.
I softened that in the days after to his being unworthy of serious response.
And gradually just began responding again, unselectively.

Likewise Iggy has lowered himself by cheering pro on.
And though it's usually not directed at me by name, JLA likewise cheers Pro on.

Perhaps that is the only way to stop the bad behavior on their part. By completely ignoring it, as unworthy of even reading.

Is it? If I am identified as a "problem" to overcome to find enjoyment in posting, then the only logical and reasonable thing would be for me to voluntarily stop posting here. That way, everyone wins. So, I don't see how that would be considered "cowardly", no more than Nowhereman's disappearance is concluded as such.

So, with all of that true, then I'm wondering why anyone is worried about BSAMS-type trolling. No, I'm not bumping threads, I'm bumping posts. And 99% of it is contained to the PoliForum. My beef with The Pussy is satiated since I can set him on Ignore. So, I'm not sure what the overall issue would be past this point.

However, I'm willing to "regenerate" my online persona to something akin to the past, if that's the overall consensus. The only point to post here is to have fun. And if it ain't fun, then I don't intend to do it...

I find that Iggy is human, like most of us here. Sometimes I agree with him (and vice versa), sometimes not (and vice versa). Sometimes I think he's reasonable and insightful. Other times I think he's unnecessarily combative.

While I agree he let himself get a little too invested in pro's off-putting foolishness I find that if one responds to iggy calmly and with good humor he tends to be a pretty good guy most of the time. On the other hand, accusing him of (paraphrase) "LIES" and "SLANDER" tends to get "bad Iggy" to stick around.

this isn't nordic society. nowhereman left because he wanted to. he'll return when he wants to. its all personal choice. if its yours, so be it. if not, be it so. there's honestly nothing deeper to look into.

Eh, I think the current happenings are a bit more complex than we'd necessarily like to put forth the effort discussing on a message board.

Part of me wonders why there is even a comics forum anymore. Most, if not all, of us are pretty much devoid of any give a damn when it comes to the industry anymore. When we can muster up some care then we generally use it all up laughing or bitching about how stupid something is (see: Fear Itself, One-Face, etc.) I'll give Lothar credit for trying with some of the New 52 titles, but he is fucking boring for a reason. There isn't going to be any talk about Voodoo if all you give me is a cover and a one sentence review. Dammit, Lothar!

I think we need a common enemy. Whether it be a raid on another board or an all out heckling of a poster here (see, King Snarf), I think having a common enemy was a valve to release some of our worst trolling on some poor, deserving schmuck so that we could still converse during our trolling of each other and not devolve into graemlins and the world's longest fucking ellipsis.

A similar point is that the loss of some posters broke the balance of power around here. Try and call someone out for a batfuck, insane screed and, now, you are a communazi/corpofascist. For example, don't take it personally...DAVE, BSAMS could get through WB's Soros/Alinsky/Glenn Beck is God screeds and calm him. A Pro or JLA can't. It just feeds the beast more. This isn't saying that any of us are any more or less insane than others around here. I'm just saying that the shades of crazy just stand out in contrast to each other so much more these days. Though, honestly, Dave is batshit crazy.

This ties into the lack of creativity. It is hard to put forth the effort to be creative when it is seen as casting your pearls before swine.
