There always have been-and will be-remakes and I can't get too upset about them. I generally just ignore them and figure they'll succeed or fail on their own merits, even if I may occasionally wonder (here or privately) what they were thinking.
That being said, it seems a little weird to remake a hit movie made by two people who were right at the top of their game (Verhoeven and Arnold) with a "B" list director and a star who has never been able to generate hit movie on his own during a fifteen year career.
By 'b-list', you of course mean a director with several box office hits.

I think that most PKD movies could be remade better with few exceptions. That being said, I'd still prefer to see the Cronenberg version of this story.

First off, I don't think that it based off a PKD story since it's a William Gibson story. Secondly, it shows that the people who wrote it have read Gibson stories, but I'm not too sure that they understood cyberpunk in general.

The only way this could work if it's actually a surprise sequel, a la Star Trek. Like, he finds a note from himself that says "Take off the mask" so he goes to the mirror and his skin peels off and it's Arnold underneath, and he goes "Agggh! Not again!"
