In a world where properties like "Strange Brew", "Slap Shot", and even rapper Emenem can merit their own action figures, what else can be made into a toy?

Will we see a full line of "Cheers" action figures someday (complete with bar playset?)? How about a line dedicated to the girlish boy music group Hanson? Hell, what about a toy line dedicated to radio shock jock Howard Stern and crew?

What far out toy ideas will they come up with next?

Actually, the Bret "the Hitman" Hart action figure from Toy Biz' WCW line looks a good deal like Howard Stern, if you wanted to customize one.

And walking through a toy store recently, I was surprised to see a fashion doll of the cute orange-haired pop singer Vitamin C (formerly Colleen Fitzpatrick of Eve's Plum, a very cool band). I figured Britney and Christina would have Barbie-like dolls, but I didn't think Vitamin C was quite on their level. I actually got a kick out of seeing that doll, just because I think she's a neat girl.

A company has made little toys of the members of Limp Bizkit and Powerman 5000 called SMITIs, which are like Kubricks or the little Playmobil people. So far nobody, McFarlane included, has made action figures of any musicians I like. But I would happily buy a Brian Setzer figure, or a Tori Amos, Rivers Cuomo, Morrissey, Robert Smith, Mike Ness, Chris Isaak, or Ben Folds.

I would also like action figures of Jules Winfield and Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction, Tyler Durden and "Jack" the Narrator from Fight Club, and highly detailed, movie-realistic versions of the Ghostbusters. I'm holding out hope McFarlane or Art Asylum go after those licenses.

Unfortunately, even though Alex from Clockwork Orange is rumored every year, McFarlane Toys has yet to make him, nor is he currently on the schedule. They had fans vote for the Movie Maniacs lineups the last couple years, and he always scores highly (along with Hannibal Lecter, Tyler Durden, and Pinhead from Hellraiser). But instead they make stuff like Candyman. Feh. Maybe it's a licensing problem. But I too would buy a cool Alex figure, me droogies!

What I'd like to se from McFarlane's music line is a boxed set of the original line-up of The Ramones.....

It's actually surprised me that noone has snapped up the licence to do action figures of the Monkees.

Other than that, music wise...I'd kill for an Iggy Pop action figure...has anyone done Hendrix yet? I thought I saw that somewhere.

Movie and televison franchises? Well, they finally got around to doing Big Trouble in Little China, Reservior Dogs, Snake Plissken from Escape from New York/ LA, and The Evil Dead franchise...so almost all my wishes have been granted. I got some really obsure ones though, that probably have little or no chance of seeing the light of day, like:

Sonny Chiba as "Terry" from the Streetfighter flicks of the 1970's...

Forest Whitaker as Ghost Dog

Don Johnson and Mickey Rouke as Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man

Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen as "James" and "Carl" from Men at Work

Estevez (again) as "Otto" and Harry Dean Stanton as "Bud" from Repo Man

George Clooney and Quentin Tarintino as "Seth and Richie Gecko" from...um,... From Dusk Till Dawn

Comics? I'd love to see an Adam West Batman and Burt Ward Robin.

The Rocketeer

and countless others....

Then...there's shit that I can't believe no one's produced, because of the fact that fanboys would fucking sell the house for complete sets...

A Highlander line, for instance....

I'm a longtime fan of the first film, but none of the rest ever did anything for me, nor did the tv show, but I have friends who are fanatical about the damn stuff....'course, I think alot of that has to do with the fact that since the late 1990's, the film and video distribution rights on the first 2 films have changed hands like 4 times, and I haven't even got a clue as to who owns the televisions series...

Other stuff I would like to see personally, would include:

A Buckaroo Banzai line

Bruce Willis as "David Dunn" and Sam Jackson as "Mister Glass" from Unbreakable

Burt Reynolds as Hooper ....I love that flick.

A Masters of the Universe assortment that was sculpted to look like the feature film counterparts of the action figures....

A Flash Gordon line modelled after the classic cliffhanger serials of the 1930's and 40's
