Good to see Gail Simone put the smack down on MOTA. It's about time he was exposed for the egomaniacal dictator-wannabe he really is. Hopefully the rest of the Internet comics cites will get smart and ban him for good.

Of course, that might just be wishful thinking....

On the Kara subject, I just picked up Supergirl Archives Vol. 2 the other night.

Read it all that nihgt.

Loved it.

It was fun... innocent. And I still say that's something comics are missing these days.

Anyone from ages 6 to LLance could enjoy those stories.

And the whole voting for Linda's new hairstyle... My, what camp. I say they shoulda went with the Mary Tyler Moore style, but I was 20 years from being born at that point, so I couldn't affect the outcome.

That some editors want to imitate what's successfull in those adaptations is a choice, not something that happens just because.

Actually, for these types of changes, the word comes down from on high, from the movie and TV people to the DC editors by way of Paul Levitz. WB likes to keep the purity of their brands.

Can't wait to see what happens to Catwoman.

I doubt anything will happen to her, her book sells.

Superman, on the other hand, is in the gutter so it needs whatever attention it can get.

If bringing back Kara for the people that have been crying over her for 17 years and putting Lex in Smallville will do it then that's what Berganza's gonna try.

Ok it's now been a Week since the most recent post

Pre-Crisis, the coroner was called.

However, after Byrne revamped the thread, it was just left to rot.

But, don't fear... I hear that soon, there will be three different threads... one in which the coroner is called, one in which the thread is left to rot, and one in which MOTA And King Krypton become gay lovers and combine their powers for good (or evil, depending).

You just wait until the big 20th anneversary of Crisis in 2005... I hear the big revelation will be that YOU ARE[/B] MOTA!!!!

Of course, if too many people find out, they'll just plant clues leading everyone to believe that you're MOTA, And then reveal out of left field that Pig Iron was MOTA all along.

Superman gets old fast for me. He's way to powerful and the constant "lets through magic at him" is a bore. I'll check out the Supergirl stuff. By the way PI, the Invincible book was cool.

There is a new mindset at Dc..where Rucka, Johns, Winick, Loeb and Meltzer are in daily phone contact and know what everyone else is doing so they can all pretty much do storylines involving other writer's "characters". I assume it will lead into johns doing a 4 issue arc that deals with power Girl though...how could you not milk that origin? I shouldn't have said that I guess...that last bit sounded a little weird.

Pig Iron,
Hi how are you? Glad to see you again. Am also glad to hear that the writers at DC are staying in touch so they can keep other storylines co ordinated. That is good.

I'm pleased that I was able to get this Supergirl topic going again. It was rather interesting right from the start.

About Superman being TOO powerful..with creative writing and great storylines, even the most POWERFUL of beings can have limits and thus become more interesting. You just need some INCREDIBLY powerful villians to pull it off properly.

Which leads to the Duck Dodgers/Marvin the Martian syndrome...

So if Superman can push planets, should Lex Luthor be able to push solar systems?

Man Of The Atom : Incredibly powerful need not always mean INCREDIBLE physical Strength.

Look at the Molecule Man, Dr Doom, Silver Surfer.
They have powers and devices at their command..and though the Surfer is strong, Superman is stronger than he, but the Surfer has the power cosmic at his command.
Hmmmm..that might be a COOL fight between them! And Dr Doom, and Molecule Man.......

How about if : Lex Luther creates a brainwashing Gizmo where he uses it on the Surfer to make him think Supes is an evil alien, come to Earth to rule it? And that he must stop or kill Superman now.....

Molecule Man can do much damage with his power over the molecules over inanimate objects, and he only as strong as you or I, physically.

Dr Doom, same thing, except it is his scientific genius that makes him most dangerous..and his ego, and lust for power.

Just a few examples.

See, that's the thing.

Silver Surfer with the power cosmic, Molecule Man with power akin to the Beyonder, and Dr. Doom.

The problem with Superman today, right now, is the same problem he had before Crisis, and that is that writers give him the ability to have whatever power the plot calls for for him to save the day.

That's the complain people who say Superman is too powerful have.

Between Crisis and 99 Superman's power levels were more credible, and that made him a more interesting character.

Today, of course the people he fights need to be incresingly more powerful, because Superman is back to having no limits to what he can do.

The Duck Dodgers/Marvin the Martian syndrome...

What happened to mxy, why did he leave?

His posts were smart when he wanted them to be.

Man of The Atom :

I haven't read a Superman comic in many years.
I kinda liked him BEST in the1930's and 1940's, when
he had limits. The 50's and 60's were pretty good, too.

It is sad if they have made him nearly omnipotent
again.

It is. The quality in the Superman comics has been in the gutter since 99. Very few good, long lasting ideas have come out of Berganza's era.

I liked Superman ( And Supergirl ) best when
they had to use their brains to defeat a bad guy.

That was a GREAT lesson there : No matter how
powerful you are, there is always someone out there
MORE powerful than you.

Brains are required at that point..and it is best to
be a quick thinker, as well!

Superman is the son of a scientist. Kara's Dad
was no slouch in the brain department, either.
That made them both smart before they ever
became super smart.
