My friend bought a used 360 really cheap. It didn't work and the previous owner had opened it, which voided the warranty. My friend used some Youtube tutorials to erase all evidence of the machine having been opened, and voila, Microsoft gave him a new one.

Dell has been selling them for about 20 bucks less but you need to find the coupon codes. I saw them a couple days ago but now I don't know where they are.

i just finished fallout 3 on ps3. awesome game. i have resistance 2 but i really hate the 2 player part of it compared to resistance.

Resistance 2's multiplayer sucked. Getting my ass handed to me in GRAW2 on the hardest difficulty...

Just found out that my PC can run PCSX2 at fullspeed with some of the less demanding games, so I've been shifting between WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2009, Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 and Dragonball Z: Infinite World since last night. All are fun, but the anime games are a bit too simplistic, with much of the fun factor coming out of unlocking extras.

I had dragonballs, but medicated powder fixed it.

What are your system specs? And the last time I tried PCSX2 (probably 3 years ago) it was buggy as all hell. I'm assuming they've worked out most of the issues?

- Pentium E5200 2.5 Ghz (the non-core 2 duo name is a bit misleading, since this is still a core 2 duo with a reduced L2 cache, based on the 45nm wolfdale core, it's a little bit faster than c2ds based on the 65nm conroe core clock for clock). Stock, I never overclock.

- 2gb of ddr2 800 mem, in single channel mode since I only have one dimm.

- geforce 9500 GT

- here's the cincher: I run PCSX2 on winxp 64 bit. I dual boot between my old 32 bit xp and xp 63 bit(because I was afraid that I have programs that won't run), and it seems that PCSX2's performance is almost halved when run on winxp 32 bit, using the same settings and hardware)

- Also, a lot of tweaking before I found speed hack settings that work fine on all of my games. Some speedhacks in the VU section actually reduce performance.

Played WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2009 again. The engine is good but the roster sucks. I mainly just use the ones that are already in past WWE games, the unlockable characters are shit, Ric Flair is about the only unlockable character I care about.

Not sure about the PC version, but there seemed to be a lot of promise with the PS3 and 360 versions, with downloadable content available for the first time, with extra people being added to the roster, but after only two download packs, they stopped it.
Here they had a chance to add a shit load more characters, and make more money off people, and all they gave us was a handful of new additions to the roster, some shitty older characters like Doink and the Bushwhackers and a few costume changes.

For my money, they need to make this game two yearly instead of yearly, and release semi-regular downloadable content to add on newer signings, anyone they missed from the initial game, costume changes and maybe some extra arenas or something.
That would probably make them more money in the long run, and would give them more chance to develop a game thats a seriously radical step up from the previous game.

Been switching back and forth between quite a few games recently.
Heavily played Fallout 3 again the last few days because of the Broken steel download pack finally became available.
Fear 2 has also made a comeback due to the Reborn download being released as well.
Also been playing Batman Arkham for the challenges.
Eat Lead, Quantum of solace, F1 championship edition, Rainbow six Vegas & Civ Rev have all taken up some time.
Also finally completed Force Unleashed as I started from scratch due to the game now having a trophies system. Will be downloading the add on packs when I get a chance as well.

I'm playing the PS2 version, and I think my complaint about the shitty roster is a fault on my side, as I haven't watched the WWE in a long time so a large number of characters on the game don't stand out for me, they just look like a bunch of generic guys with long hair and tights. It kinda felt like I'm just playing the same character with just a different skin, and I couldn't care for the difference in movesets.

I would have preferred the difference in characters from the attitude era at least or older, when wrestlers were more cartoony and would lend themselves well to videogames. The Legends of Wrestling roster would have been fine for me, but the engine for that game is shitty. I hate button mashing.

The larger than life, almost comic book characters of the past just seem laughable in this day and age, with few exceptions, which is why most wrestlers these days have actual names rather than gimmick names.
Sadly, as you say, unless you are overly familiar with the current WWE, then it doesnt translate as well to the video game genre.

I think you only have to look at some of the gimmick names that have cropped up in recent years to see that gimmicks for the most part, dont work anymore.
The Boogieman, for example, probably would have worked 10 to 20 years ago, despite his lack of talent, but in todays day and age it was never seen as scary, just comedic.

As for the Legends of wrestling game, I bought that years ago, and it was just plain awful, bought it, played it for a day or two then took it back to the shop and swapped it as the shop was doing a no questions asked refund policy if you brought a game back within a week.

Of course there is the new WWE Legends of Wrestlemania game, but I dont believe thats on the PS2, and quite frankly when I played the demo, I was unimpressed.
While it uses the same engine as SD vs Raw, the controls are different, and I really did not like them.

I have played WWE SD Vs RAW 09 on the NDS, PS2 and PSP. I find it odd that the PSP version is the best one of the bunch. It's basically the same game as the PS2 version, except that wrestlers are classified as brawlers, high flyers, technicians, powerhouse, and showman. They will have specific signature moves and counters according to their class (some can shift between two styles, i.e. HBK can be a showman or a technical wrestler).

The PS2 version has the best graphics out of all 3.

The Nintendo DS version IS SHIT AND ITS DEATH WILL BE REJOICED. I can forgive the pixelated graphics, since graphics was never really the DS's strong suit, but damn if they didn't ruin the gameplay. It pisses me off that they seemed to use the touchscreen just for the hell of it, even if it breaks gameplay. It's okay if the touchscreen is just an extra, like for taunting or extra movement, but no. You're going to use it most of the time along with the D pad. The buttons are never used. (Basically, you perform moves by doing finger gestures. A grapple is done by making a circular motion on the touchscreen, while a strong grapple is done by making two circular motions.)

The DS version sounds shit. I hate touchscreen games like that. Its no so bad if you are playing something basic like a puzzle game, but action orientated games just dont work with touchscreen.

I'd assume the PSP version has those catagories of wrestler due to its limitations over the PS2 version, where they can throw everything into the mix.
That said, sometimes simplicity is the best thing all round.

I like the PS3 version, its far and away a huge improvement over the turd that was SD vs Raw 2008, which was the only Smackdown game that I got rid of within a month.
I usually get a year of on and off gameplay til the new one comes out, but that one was just god awful control wise.

Of course, the 2010 version is just around the corner, and to be honest, I cant see it being that much different to the 2009 version.

Just reading the SD vs Raw website, and it says that the DS version of 2010 will eliminate the need to use the stylus.
Obviously they realise how shit it was then.

Played through the "Brutal Legend" demo. So far, it looks good. The special moves with your teammate(s?) seem entirely too powerful, though. I'll wait and see how this one turns out.
