Especially if the video game is your mom, because your mom is a video game.

I'm finally playing Mass Effect for PC so I can be prepared for its sequel's release on PS3. I wanted to wait for the first one to come out on PS3 before buying the franchise, but it's taking too long.

I miss the sequel to that Maniac Mansion- Day of the tentacle. Now that game was entertaining. Very well rounded and constructed game for back in the day

I wondered if there was any connection when I saw the tentacles in Maniac Mansion. Now I'll have to play that too.

You'd like it. Same basic point and click gameplay as MM and Monkey Island except better graphics. Great humor throughout the game too tho some of the solutions to everything seem a little unconventional

I was a bit disappointed with them removing a lot of the role playing aspects of the system. Still a good game that eliminated a lot of the tiring, repetitive stuff from the first. It just seems less interesting now without that stuff.

True, but I'm already addicted to the universe, so I can't really let go.

I suppose it's always been the abundance of lore that's attracted me to most RPG games. Even if the game has lost the leveling elements characteristic of RPGs, the character is still immersed in a rich story-telling venue, albeit a more shooter-centric one.

Although I will say that the dialogue trees seemed to have taken a beating--Ouch.

Yes, another disappointment. But you are right in the fact that the Mass Effect universe is pretty well defined. That's really its saving grace in this incarnation as well as the Paragon/Bag Guy choices you can make in cut scenes. I was sad to see that the game was shorter as it seems they're putting a lot into the DL content. It kind of seems like you're not buying a full game but still paying the full game price. I'm just happy that I was patient enough to wait to grab it for $20.

I recently discovered I can play Mario Kart online on my, erm, "customized" Wii (I always assumed I'd get bricked). Is anyone still using that?

Smash Bros too, though it looks like not many people get on there anymore.

yeah, nintendo was not as tight as MS and Sony when it comes to online play. The Nintendo DS can also go online using only roms on a flash cart.

The online feature in Mario Kart works pretty well actually, and there's always a lot of people there. I only wish I could chat between races so I could say nasty things at them.

Currently trying out Dragonball Kai: Ultimate Boutouden on the DS. In this game, you can perform special attacks by shouting the move names at the nintendo DS microphone.

This is the kind of technology that should have been implemented on the arcades, in street fighter cabinets. It would have been fun to see Street Fighter tournaments devolve into shouting matches.

Just downloaded Resident Evil 2 on PSN. Noice!

Kinda sucks though That it doesn't have the features from the N64 port, which was the system I first played it on. Interestingly enough, it had more survival modes and level settings.

got my hands on a working bootleg of fallout 3 GotY edition. holy fuck is it addictive. I'm amazed I've gotten as much accomplished this week as I have. next week is spring break for the districts I sub in so I'm already considering it allocated to being an irritating little completist.

I also got a copy of Fallout 3 GOTY edition, but I uninstalled it after the part where my character left the vault. I like how the game looks, and the story intrigued me, but the clunky combat turned me off.

I know that I need to level up some skills before my character becomes effective with weapons, but the scripting and hit detection really feels awkward, and third person view makes you move like a ghost skating on ice.

Resistance 3.

Holy shit. I actually wasn't expecting much from this game since it didn't involve Ted Price. But this is fuckin' awesome.

I was wary of buying another FPS, but this was a good deal.
