Half Life 2. I've played through it twice on normal difficulty. Now I'm trying it on the hardest setting.

I got a PS2 a few years ago, and sometime last June it started to play fewer and fewer of my games. I bought a second PS2(used, 90 bucks) in early December, in anticipation of the releasal of San Andreas(and MGS3 later in the month), and I've played it so much that now it won't play some of my games.

This is definitely an area that I find the X-Box to be far superior in.

I've had my PS2 since the initial release way back when & it still plays all my games............you are obviously very unlucky as I've never known anyone to have this problem.

Now, in all fairness, I work at a video game store, and of all the systems, we get the most returns on the PS2. I'd probably say the best built of the 3 major systems would be the GameCube, followed by the XBox, and PS2 a distant third.

The fact that there are more PS2s out there and hardly any Gamecubes might have something to do with it!

The PS2 also came out a year before the other systems, so some of them are much older.

If youve followed my posts at all, you probably alreay know that I'm a Sony supporter. That being said, PS2's technology has been known to break down relatively more so than its competition. There are even websites made for people that are dedicated to providing instuction in taking apart your PS2 and fixing a common defection found in the hardware. There were entire nationwide flawed shipments that went out.One thing about nintendo, theyve always built durable hardware. You could take an nes, snes, n64, gameboy or gamecube, chuck em out a 3rd story window and play em 2 minutes later. X-Boxes have been known to keel over as well but not nearly as much as the PS2s.

I agree with you. Especially with the first couple batches of the PS1s and the PS2s. Thats why I never buy a console when it first comes out.

Over break I played a little Chrono Trigger. I tried beating Lavos at the point where Chrono is dead (having Magus in my party). It's a bit harder than I remember. So I broke out Super Mario RPG for SNES. I didn't realize how easy and stupid the game can be. The end boss was a piece of cake. But it was still fun.

Once I beat FF6 I'm going to play through Chrono Trigger again. Those Square games for the SNES are still some of my favorite.

Someone should start a thread there called
"what are you masturbating to now"

Then we could tell what porno we recently bought and links to websites and such.

Some throwback action. Nice. I've been bustin out an older game but not that old school in the form of Soul Calibur 2. I introduced it to my boy and now he went out and bought it and hes hooked. Still believe this game has the most solid fighting engine of any fighting game to date.

I've just finished Half-Life 2 on hard. It's not particularly challenging. The Combine soldiers seem to throw more grenades and their weapons do a little more damage. That shotgun will take you down very quickly if you're not careful.

I was hoping for a different post-credits cutscene but it's the same one you get on the normal setting.

I've gone through this game three times now. I thought that after this time, I'd give it a rest but on reflection I think that I'm going to play through it again.

The first one was much better. It was scarier and had a better story to it as well.

I rented DOOM 3. I'm not impressed. In fact I'm having to force myself through it.

I now have access to a fairly up to date PC and I am still only able run the graphics on a medium setting. The AI is a joke. The game was obviously intended to be a faithful homage to the orginal DOOM. The thing is, if I'm in the mood to wallow in the nostalgia of an unsophistcated first person shooter, then I'm quite happy to play a port of DOOM on my GBA.

Lets see. I'm watching my wife play "Playboy the Mansion" on her lap top and I'm trying to play "Kingdom Under Fire" on the X-Box. There just isn't enough sex on my game. Damn.

Dude, that game really is cool. I'm not sure what it's like on the PS2 or X-Box. If it's the same game I'd say get it. You run Playboy and screw a lot. hehehehehehehehehehehehe Amazing that's a real job. Life sucks! lmao

I bought Rome Total War.

A great deal of praise has been heaped on this game and my early impressions are good. You start off with a few hundred men in your command and it's an impressive sight seeing them lined up on the battlefield with the oppossing army away in the distance. The larger skirmishes that take place later in the game involve thousands of soldiers.

I'm working through the tutorial at the moment. I'll write a review when I'm deeper into it.

Well I guess that is really up to your tastes.....
CoH is really good in the group play but as a gamer who likes action..... it lacks so much.

It's good for shits and giggle for a while but after about two months it will be on the shelf collecting dust. It takes way to long to level and there is no real drastic difference for most other than appearance. Sure there are alot of skills but you're better off with games like the latest on-line Starwars.

Your better of with Worlds of Warcraft. I mean unless you like laggy Diablo non being able to dodge because not real time but not turn based either bullshit.

From what I've been told for leveling up on CoH you need to join a group of higher level characters. They call it "power leveling". A guy I work with went from level 12 to level 18 in around three hours.

Best Buy had CoH for $14.99 in their add today so I picked it up. This is a cool game. If you are a comic book fan and also are into PC games go get it. The controls work really well and the character creation is tight as hell. They need to get this on the X-Box so you can use live chat.
