The first artist it really struck me to learn this about is Murphy Anderson.

I saw some tribute covers he did of 1939-1940 covers by Lou Fine, and figured he just had an affection for an era that preceded him. What a surprise to see when I read PLANET COMICS and saw stories by him. That he had already drawing comics since 1943!

Another who surprised me is Nick Cardy, who at that time penned his work under the name Nicholas Viscardi. But either way, even then demonstrated a talent for good girl art.
