Democrats and the Democrat-leaning liberal media are spinning this as a "wave" or "bellweather" for 2018. Whereas in truth, these were states that Frau Hitlery carried in Nov 2012. And even when they were Hillary/Democrat territory from the outset, the victories were not that overwhelming. If Gillespie had manifested support of Trump from the outset, he would have narrowly won, even in his predisposed Democrat territory, instead of narrowly losing.
These were liberal regions, not a manifestation of how the entire nation feels about Trump. In these regions, you could pretty much have Satan in the Flesh (D-NJ, D-VA) running for governor, and they would win. But even in these Democrat strongholds, support of Trump would have given them a chance of winning.
