I just saw another report on OAN about the protestors. They said the protest marches peaked in late 2018 with over 300,000 protestors.
While still going strong, they are down now to about 10,000 protestors.
They interviewed a pleasant looking girl (her comments translated, from French) who said they disrupt traffic because you have to interrupt the normal routine of people or no one listens and no one pays attention. I disagree, those tactics just piss people off.
The key I think is to make public statements or videos explaining your cause and persuading people with the facts, not just chanting slogans and blocking traffic.
