That reminds me, time for my semi-annual pass-it-along-thon.
My friends have 2 kids, their youngest is having a birthday next week. In addition to a gift, I've signed her up for a subscription to a comic book. It's not too expensive, and it's a gift they can't return.

Seriously tho' it eliminates the need for her to make the trip to a comic book store (and at the age of 12, it would mean a trip for her mother too) and gets her reading.
Think of any kids in your life that could benefit. Whether they are big readers or not, into comics already or not, I guarantee you when that new issue comes each month, they will sit down and read it. And, if the book is good
enough, they will continue on their own.
Something to think about.
